Osgood just needs to make it through the 3rd period without giving up 2 goals and they should be fine.

Well he is averaging two goals a period so far! :-)

As for those defending ozzie, he has FOUR goals, not one screened, one this one that... four god damn goals. The excuses don't wash over four goals. He is not playing well and not the guy he was last year - he is the guy he was the ten years before that!

Its pretty simple with our goalies...they rarely steal a game...they stop the shots they should but hardly ever do we see either of them make incredibles saves that other goalies do. The reason for this is because they dont have to make them very often because we are that good. Should be a hell of a third...great hockey game !!

I've watched every regular season game from start to finish this year like most of you and this is by far the most exciting, intense, emotional game I have seen, period.

I have seen most games so far, and this is the most exciting one so far. A playoff series would be unreal.

What do you mean Ozzie has had about 33 shots on net so far... So the score is not 33-4, Ozzie has been making the saves so quit drilling him, if you want get out there and how him how its done...

Dude...have you been watching the game? WATCH THE GAME. Anyone without the homer glasses on can see that Osgood isn't playing well. The only reason hes had 33 shots against is because 4 out of every 5 shots against him result in juicy rebounds and more shots against.

At any rate, and .87 save percentage is not good goaltending.

I am not blaming on Ozzie on the last goal, it was a hard thing to make a save. But he has allowed too many rebounds so far this season and not fixed yet.

I think when we play with Conks in net, we play more confident. That's the difference between Ozzie and Conks.

........and all this means you hate him, because? No one is thrilled with this game, but I don't hate anyone on our team. I save my hatred for people who AREN'T Wings. Funny how that works.

"ZOMG OZZIE SUCKS TRADE HIM FOR A BAG OF LINT". Be frustrated, but be sane too.

So your only argument is

1) Semantics.

2) Hyperbole.

I never said to trade him. And I don't literally hate him. Carry on with your non-rebuttal.

Brett Lebda takes really bad penalties at really bad times. Why exactly did he need to knock the net off? Probably to avoid playing actual defense, which he also is horrible at. If Meech is healthy, it is very clear he should be playing over Lebda.

Great game and the intensity is amazing. The Sharks diving is brilliant too. I like how easily a player as big as Thornton falls down. Gift-wrapped goal from the refs there.

I like how the Red Wings have played for the most part. They have had some major defensive lapses where they get caught watching the puck and standing around in their own zone. It's tough to blame Ozzie when there are guys on the ice that forget the concept of defense.

Should be an exciting third period. The Red Wings need to take care of the puck and make good passes out of the zone against the forecheck. Stay out of the box and keep the pressure on Nabokov and the Sharks defense.

6-5 Red Wings and first in the West...

I am fairly certain that there is no legal way to hit goalie in hockey other than with the puck.

that sucks, that sucks hardcore, i think it was in 02 against the canucks when cloutier and dandenault were both going for a loose puck and it was by the vancouver blueline and dandenault hit the goalie and got a penalty

San Jose is on pace for 51 shots I think. Awesome.

I know we all know that Nabakov is an awesome goalie but no one is screaming that he has allowed 4 goals on 23 shots. I think stuff like this happens when you are playing one of the best teams in the league.

Of course my boy Kronwall on the ice for that. Surprise surprise. And of course, he's doing little to help the situation as he reads the play wrong in the corner then makes half an effort to get to the net. He ultimately just watches 2 guys hack away at the puck in front of Osgood after the initial shot. No intensity and his mental game just seems non-existent these days.

And all pettiness aside about Osgood, I think it's fair to wonder when he's going to raise the intensity to start being better than the team again on some nights. Hasek couldn't win us the Cup his last couple years because he just couldn't seem to get it going when it was needed most anymore. I'm really starting to wonder if Osgood's got it in him this year. I don't think Osgood's done as he's not as old and plays a different style than Hasek that's not as hindered by age, but I'm starting to think that if we don't see it soon, we won't see it this year at all. It won't be horrible and he'll be better in the playoffs if he starts, but we won't repeat. That might be what it takes to get his head in it again with intensity next year. I'm hoping for the best, but again, in a game like tonight given that he's had some better efforts lately, you'd think you'd see a bit of it...just a glimpse...

I agree he has not been playing his best but still he is not having a great game, that is no reason to start saying that he needs to be traded and all that other crap... Ozzie will get it together, I trust this team and I trust Babcock and know that he knows what to do about these goalies and the players. No matter what we are still the DETROIT RED WINGS and we don't lose without a fight...

I don't want to harp on Ozzie's struggles or anything, but certainly you see where folks are coming from on this.

I can live with the team giving up two and three goals a night; that's hockey, it's gonna happen.

It's much harder to reconcile surrendering one or two soft goals any given game, and that's the problem right now.

I know Ozzie's struggling. He's struggled majority of the season thus far and he's not been himself. I understand that completely and I understand where fans are getting impatient, but it's ridiculous comments like what I quoted that just set me the heck off.

i think i officially have hypertension. most exciting game of the season, no doubt. wings can stand to tighten it up a little, especially in their zone (what's new?), and i personally think conks should have gotten this game (nothing against the oz, but conks has been far superior this year). but it's a great game none the less. just don't f@ckin lose wings!!!!

Positive to take after that SJ goal is that we were down going into the 2nd its now tied. Ok i can understand ppl getting at Ozzie in this one but i wont, he will make the saves when we most need them and its going to be this 3rd period and possibly OT and the SO. Both teams are playing good. I do not agree with the 5 on 3 but what can you do right? 3rd period is Red Wing Hockey count on it.

GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd rather see the sharks lose the game and put up 60 shots on goal, than lose and put up 30 shots, just because it'd be a bigger hit to their ego :).
