Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 I'll credit that goal to Gary Bettman. Brutal, unacceptable call, but they gave up a breakaway to Ed friggin' Jovanovski. In fact, they did it twice! The mind boggles.
Guest mindfly Report post Posted February 5, 2009 how many shots against this period!?
Wingsallwin 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 Lidstrom is finally showing his age this year. True, but Nick is still one of the best defenses in the league. More than Nick's age, we have to solve problems on Kronwall first.
Ms_Hockey 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 ozzie fails again to come up with the clutch save. .......? Ozzie has made clutch saves this game. So far - he's looking pretty solid. He's stopped two close-range already.
55fan 5,133 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 Since there's no game tomorrow, I'd like to take this opportunity to wish Tomas Kopecky a happy 27th birthday, even if I'm a day early.
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 Apart from the last PK, I really, really liked what I saw this period. The first 3 lines look good. Ozzie let in the goal a little easy, but otherwise played better than he has in almost the entire season. Let's keep playing for the full 60 mins on this one, mmkay? Hopefully for his birthday he gets a waiver notice. He's horrible and I think at age 27 he should get a cake loaded with a reality check on it.

Andy Pred 48 337 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 I hear Mickey said that Big Rig may be up sat as well. Well he's not icing for GR tonight so maybe that extra 3 days rest will be enough to see him in the Joe on Sat.
BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 Since there's no game tomorrow, I'd like to take this opportunity to wish Tomas Kopecky a happy 27th birthday, even if I'm a day early. Me, too. I'd like to suggest that the Wings show him how much they appreciate him with an all expenses paid trip somewhere nice. Maybe a tropical destination? How about Barbados? Yeah, let's send him on a nice vacation to Barbados. He can stay a nice long time there. Like until late June. Yeah. Happy Birthday, Kope.

Ms_Hockey 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 he has to get a shutout every game from here on out obviously. any goal should have been a clutch save That's right! Any goal Ozzie does save is due to good bounces and high dose of luck. Any he doesn't was automatically "soft" and "clutch".
Guest DetroitBoy313 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 Man,another hard to watch period from the Wings. This season has been soo damn weird. When I watch games I just don't have the confidence in them I've had over the years.I don't know if it's just the parity has caught up to the Wings or what. It's funny to say but you barely see them taking 2 goal leads anymore. When we score it's almost apparent the other team is going to tie it up.Oh well, just have to take it for what it is. 55fan 5,133 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 Gees, guys. I agree with everything you say about Kopy- I'd like to see him traded too, but do you have to say it in reply to a Happy Birthday post? I mean, at least let the guy have that. Post all you want about him otherwise and I'll agree with it, but as long as he's in the uniform, he's one of us. For now. Know what I mean? Well he's not icing for GR tonight so maybe that extra 3 days rest will be enough to see him in the Joe on Sat. Has anyone else stopped to think we might have the next Chara on our hands? If you stop and think about it, Chara isn't really an offensive defenseman, and hes not really a defensive defenseman, although he excels in both areas, hes huge, but not overly physical, and he didn't really do anything of substance until he was about 25 - his first time playing on a decent team. Thats more or less Ericsson's story. Obviously, thats the best case scenario with Ericsson, but even being a poor man's Chara is nothing to balk at.

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 Kops has been on the PK again, looks like it could be shop window time? I'm hoping Ken Holland had a conversation with Hossa recently that went something like this: "So, uh, Marian. I know Kopecky is your BFF and all, but you came here to win a cup right?" That should be enough to send the message.
