Datsyerberger 279 Report post Posted February 11, 2009 (edited) Right, because the Wings want to give up the largest and one of the highest potential d-men in their system for a mediocre upgrade in goal. I'm pretty sure anyone that pays attention to the Wings knows that there's space for Ericsson on the roster next year and that the Wings like to keep most players down in GR as long as they can. I suppose we'll pick up Legace as a backup to replace Conklin, too. Edit: Looking at the rest of this guy's article, it's clear he has no idea how the Wings org operates. He talks about Howard being stuck behind Ozzie and Conklin.. again, last waiver eligible year. Unlike some teams *cough Toronto cough* we don't have to bring up our young players immediately and stunt their development just so we don't look like total ass. StevieY9802 6 Report post Posted February 11, 2009 What everyone else said. His salary is too big for one. Both of the Wings goalies together make barely over half of that. Plus giving up Ericsson? No way. And Toskala has been very up and down anyways. Not happening.
KrazyGangsta 79 Report post Posted February 11, 2009 (edited) Lmfao ... there's no way we trading our number 1 defense prospect specially when it's the last years of Lidstrom. Edited February 11, 2009 by KrazyGangsta
Wings_Rule_1010 4 Report post Posted February 11, 2009 I don't see that ever ever happening. The Wing's staff (and me too) seem really high on Ericsson. No way that happens.
The Secret 304 Report post Posted February 11, 2009 No way. Not for Ericsson. I'd be interested to see what Toskala could do in Detroit but not at that cost. Forget it.

DyingAlive 27 Report post Posted February 11, 2009 I'm sorry but this would be an awful move. Why would you want a goalie that gave up one of the worst goals I have ever seen? Stay out of Dtown Toskala.
stormboy 47 Report post Posted February 11, 2009 holy crap...when i read the title of the thread i thought there was actually a chance of this happening. there's about 0.001% chance that it does, and that's a good thing. look, i've been perturbed by the goaltending as much as the next guy, but a 4m dollar toskala is NOT the answer we need. hell, TOSKALA period is probably not the answer we need. i would hesitate if it were for a pick AND we had the cap space. it's for probably our best prospect and we don't have the space. DO NOT WANT.

boomer 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2009 No way. Not for Ericsson. I'd be interested to see what Toskala could do in Detroit but not at that cost. Forget it. I agree with your assesment of Ericson. As fas as Toskala he'd definitely prosper here due to the overall quality of the team compared to Toronto, however I wouldn't give up a defensemen prospect as Ericson. However I still think we need an ace in the hole backing Conklin, and if were not going to give Howard a chance to come up- which he should have by now; well we shouldn't sit on our hands waiting for Osgood to maybe turn around. Bottom line let's get someone adequate to platoon with Conklin , Toskala or who ever is available. We do have some players that we could move in trade. Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted February 11, 2009 http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=516604 hmmmm Toskala, eh? Hahaha a blue chip prospect that the Wings are very, very, very high on and see as a top two d-man in the future traded for one of the worst starters in the league? What a joke of a speculative blog by the sporting news. And they compared him to Quincey? Hahaha they obviously didn't do their due-diligence.
