wingfan40 1 Report post Posted February 25, 2009 Atlanta Thrashers Happy homecoming, so far 7:48 pm February 24, 2009, by mknobler After going 2-1-1 on their longest road trip of the year, the Thrashers lead 3-1 through one period of Tuesday night’s home game against the Colorado Avalanche. The Kings, Red Wings and Blackhawks are here scouting this one. The Thrashers looked shaky defensively in the first 90 seconds but then, bang-bang-bang built a 3-0 lead, before giving up a power play goal near the end of the period. Atlanta goals by Enstrom, Kovalchuk and Reasoner. Colorado goal by Hejduk. __________ Who could they be checking out? Laperriere? Armstrong? Those are my two guess's. Both are making around 1mil. We would have to move a player or two (meech, Kopy, Cheli, Sammy????) but the grit would be nice. Either one could play the role that Dallas Drake gave us last year. What does everyone else think? Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted February 25, 2009 Lappy, Armstrong, Havelid, would all make sense.
MaynardJKeenan 1 Report post Posted February 25, 2009 My guess would be Armstrong.
wingfan40 1 Report post Posted February 25, 2009 I just saw an article by Ansar Kahn saying that the Wings are looking for a depth defenseman...... Maybe it's Leopold? I hope it's Armstrong.

Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 25, 2009 It's Joe Sakic, no doubt! Seriously, though, anyone who thinks that the management will trade a roster player has apparently not paid much attention to the management's behavior over the past decade. Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted February 25, 2009 They're trying to figure out how to solve that man-mountain named Andrew Raycroft! How have we not beaten those guys yet?!

Seriously, though, anyone who thinks that the management will trade a roster player has apparently not paid much attention to the management's behavior over the past decade. They've done it before, so it's not crazy to think it's possible again. Though they won't need to trade a roster player for a few of those guys.
rage 24 Report post Posted February 25, 2009 Could be nothing. Scouts need things to do too, you know? If anything, probably somebody off the Thrasher's roster.

Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted February 25, 2009 So I guess the rumors about Kovy coming to the Wings is true.... Then all thats left is to send Kopy and a 4th rounder to the Caps for Ovechkin. Kovalchuk - Datsyuk - Ovechkin

Blueliner 69 Report post Posted February 25, 2009 Then all thats left is to send Kopy and a 4th rounder to the Caps for Ovechkin. Kovalchuk - Datsyuk - Ovechkin We should make the series of trades I made in my NHL 09 dynasty, I traded Chelios, Lilja, and Quincey to Washington for Backstrom and two prospects. I then traded Backstrom for Kovalchuk. And then I traded him for Ovechkin. Get it done, Kenny!

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 25, 2009 I just hope it's not Colby Armstrong. Kovalchuk would be nice, but we already have a right-handed winger with a great shot, by the name of Mikael Samuelsson. No need for a guy like Kovalchuk now. egroen 384 Report post Posted February 25, 2009 (edited) We should make the series of trades I made in my NHL 09 dynasty, I traded Chelios, Lilja, and Quincey to Washington for Backstrom and two prospects. I then traded Backstrom for Kovalchuk. And then I traded him for Ovechkin. Get it done, Kenny! Essentially Chelios, Lilja and Quincey for Ovechkin and two prospects. Well, s***... we already lost a key ingredient to that trade... now we'll never get Ovechkin! Edited February 25, 2009 by egroen

akustyk 84 Report post Posted February 25, 2009 there's no way in hell we'd get Armstrong without giving up picks or regular player. nor could it be Laperiere because we simply don't have assets to go for him, especially considering defense depth need. Havelid sound reasonable to me. maybe also Clark who seems to be on decline with Avs and could use another chance in Big Red Machine
LeftWinger 5,152 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 I would totally surprised if the Wings do anything at the deadline. Could we afford (cap) to trade picks for another roster player for the playoffs? Then whay happns if he turns out like Stuart and becomes a huge part of a Stanley Cup repeat? Then we are really screwed!

I doubt that could be classified as "really screwed". And yes we have enough room for a rental player.

And yes we have enough room for a rental player. Sweet! As long as you know this is NOT NHL 09! I actually meant if said player was a huge part of the Stanley Cup win, then Holland just may want to offer him a contract. That is what I meant by screwed. Pus it would make about 1000 of threads on this forum (ie. Hossa or Flip or Huds or Franz) totally useless! (like they already weren't)
