He's still comparing apples to oranges, particularly in a place that's been hit so hard with the economic situation. Hockey already has to compete with all three other major north american sports in Detroit, and if I'm getting tight on cash and really eager to go watch a sports event, I'm probably looking to go to a baseball or football game. Red Wings tickets are pretty damn cheap, especially compared to here in Vancouver, but you can still get baseball tickets for much cheaper.

Yeah, talking about the crowds in Detroit isnt a good thing to do. Ticket prices are too high for the economy, and then most of the older fans dont really like the new style of hockey. Don's not always informed about these things.. still love him though.

Man, Nashville have gone into defence mode making this game a stinker to watch.

A few thoughts on my end regarding tonight's games:

-It's games like these when the fairweather fans are revealed. They become very visible, as they can't tolerate the team playing one bad game. They need success all the time.

-The Wings have played a lot of games in the last couple of weeks. They're obviously very tired; they're just not moving very quickly, and Nashville is beating them to a lot of pucks as a result. Presumably the fatigue is bringing on a lot of of the unforced errors, as well.

-Sometimes lots of bad bounces happen in the same game.

-Then again, it's REALLY games like these when the fairweather fans are revealed, because they just can't handle all of this.

"This team sucks" is a categorical statement. "Changes need to be made" is a categorical statement. In this case, both statements are being made because people cannot tolerate badly losing even one game.
