I dunno why, but you remind me of one of those douches who sit on the sidewalk and nitpick about how everyone is driving or behaving. I think in your nitpicking about others you're overlooking that maybe your superior-like attitude annoys people just as much.

Also, when you are at an arena with tens of thousands of people, you likely deal with the fact that there are assholes, or maybe they have a legitimate reason -- as long as they don't do jumping jacks in front of your face, it isn't a big ******* deal. If a player or fan doesn't like it, f*** them. I don't pay money to see a game and have a good time to appease to a few fans or an extreme few players (I never hear about this so I'm assuming it's a needle in a haystack) who feel like telling me when to get up and walk around. Besides, if someone wants to get up and miss some of the game, so be it. They paid, they can do pretty much whatever they want.

Did you say f*** the players? I'm believe the players are the only reason you log onto this site. Its not hard for me to tell what type of fan you are when you say f*** the players just because you think going up and down a million times is acceptable. Its safe to say you're the reason I decided to write this thread. Someone who goes to the games to treat it like a high school football game, a cool social gathering. Can you also drink 100 beers at the game?

If the beers weren't so expensive, sure!. Well, I mean, expensive for being s*** beer.

Actually I've never once left a game early, arrive late, or even had a stroll while the players were on the ice and playing. I've only been to about a dozen games, only two of them Wings games. Maybe you confuse me for someone else. Just because I don't leave the game early, arrive late, or walk around during the period, doesn't mean I need to pass judgment on others. On the other hand, since you're questioning my being at the game I wonder if you're even paying attention to the game and enjoying it if you're so focused on the thousands of people walking back and forth. And yes, I pay for the ticket, so I wouldn't need any players telling me how to use it. If I wanted to buy a club level seat and spend all game in the bar getting smashed who are they to tell me otherwise?

Lastly, yes, f*** the what, one or two NHL players who would probably ***** about fans coming and going? Of course it would be f*** any player but reality is I don't exactly read much about NHL players bitching in these regards. Maybe you can enlighten me, because I'm sure a lot of fans would see it as biting the hand that feeds.

all I have to say is...

...at least you guys get to go the Joe to see the game.

I would kill to see the Wings at the Joe...

I'm sure many would. Wonder why some few like the OP need to make a big fuss over nothing.

So you have taken upon yourself to defend the good name of Detroit hockey fans in the eyes of the PLAYERS? Is that the root of this problem, that one of them mentioned in an interview that we get up for food during a game? Wow.

As a fan, I found it acceptable for Conklin to go take a leak during a game, he should be OK with it if I do too.

Well I guess the thing to remember is, they paid for their ticket too.

My best suggestion is to ***** at them, s***ty I know but there honestly isn't much else to do.

When we played Calgary 1st round in 07' I watched a drunk (not exactly a fair generalization as I was VERY drunk too, but there are just some people who shouldn't drink because they don't know how to relax and have a good time they insist on being obnoxious pricks) Wings fan almost get jumped in the middle of the isle because he was running up and down with his "f***-the-flamessss!" blabber. About 20 of us told him in no uncertain terms to sit down and shut the hell up or he was going to revisit every step he just came up with his face. He ended up getting hauled off by security once things heated up and people started really ******* with him.

That was kind of a clear cut case, but I catch your drift having been to games on a regular basis over the years I've seen a decline in the quality of attending fan etiquette.

Well that and the fact that I miss a lot of the game because people seem to not realize theres a hockey game going on down below. I thought this city was referred Hockeytown.

Also, clever line.

I wish I was a fan like you. Cynical about everything.

Btw, I highly doubt you miss a lot of the game because people forget there is a hockey game going on. I've been the the game, and you probably miss 5 seconds maximum between whistles in the first and middle of the second period. You are making a mountain out of a molehill here.

Also, I know that fans aren't starting up the steps while play is going on, because the ushers keep them from doing so until play stops.

All fans have these problems in terms of fans getting up/moving around, not seeing the entire 60 minutes due to making friends with Mother Nature or getting drinks/food, ushers holding them up expectedly due to current play, etc.

As long as fans, regardless of the team or event, aren't acting like beligerent a'holes ruining the watching experience of others around them or being just totally clueless (i.e. standing up all the time getting in the way while everybody else is sitting), we're in no place to tell them how to act.

Let it be and leave it at that.

Also, the waving that "I'm on TV" dealie is kinda silly, but whatever.

When are people going to learn to be quiet at a hockey game, all that cheering is so distracting I miss part of the game. And all those lights, and the flashing lighted banners make me miss so much of the game it's unreal. Did you know they show what's happening on the ice up on the scoreboard. I must miss twelve seconds of every game switching between the scoreboard and the ice. When will all this madness stop?

In case you didn't realize it, this was written with a touch of sarcasm.

Your concentration issues are just that...yours. You are not the superfan you claim to be. If you were, a few seconds of a person in your way would not be that distracting to you. Move your head a little bit to see around people. That shouldn't be too hard unless it is a medical condition preventing it. If that is the case, then I offer a sincere apology as no offense was intended here.

I have no problem standing the whole game, not sure what you're talking about. The problem with standing is I have 10 guys behind me going wild because they can't see which then brings me back to the original problem. Because the issue isn't standing or sitting, its simply being able to watch the game that I paid money to see. Please come up with a comment that actually pertains to the problem.

Also, you still cant compare a guy dancing at a concert to a guy going down to the concessions at a Red Wings game.

The main problem here is that you are talking about "problems" that I see are absolutely uncontrollable by one human being. It has nothing to do with whether Detroit can still be called "Hockeytown" or who gets up when and why (yeah, even from 1200 miles away....urp...) or who yaks/pees/eats and who doesn't. What 's YOUR solution to All of the Above since you're the one bringing these things up? And if YOU don't have answers, WHY are you bringing them up?

Since it's YOU who's unhappy, and YOU don't like these things happening around you, then YOU need to talk directly to whoever is bugging you when these things happen or talk to an usher. Or Mike Ilitch. And then YOU need to be able to deal with any and all consequences from your confrontation. NOBODY HERE can do this for you. Why you can't see this is really puzzling...

Would a real Wings fan dedicate this much time to bashing other fans? Troll.

Simply put... YES!

Look at these boards, filled with bashing other fans and yet all on here are dubbed by themselves "superfans"

I second the f*** the players... They should be concentrating on their job at hand...not worring about mikiemike getting interuppted for a grand total of about 2mins (over the course of 2-1/2 hours in about 5-10sec intervals) Why should they give a f*** anyways? their job isn't to watch the fans its to play the game. The fans did their job by paying the $$$'s to get into the arena to WATCH the players... its not the other way around. so if they watch the fans... f*** em!

Also you make it sound like you are one of the suits that attend games wearing formal wear... is that true... cause last i checked this is an entertainment venue... a venue that is not in the same light as the fox theatre. you have a stick up your ass if you don't think going to an NHL game is a cool social gathering... it a great way to spend an evening with friends and/or family. SO my advice is strip off the suit put on the jersey of your favorite player (i am guessing lidstrom cause you wouldn't wear anything less than the captain) color your face red and white... and LIVE LIFE A BIT!!!!

I made this thread to talk about the fans at games and see what everyone else had to say about it. I never was trying to make a change, thats why this is just a discussion. I don't know if you guys realize this yet but this is just a discussion forum. Babcock, Holland, and the rest of the players aren't going to listen to what you have to say, thats why its called a discussion. For some reason this thread turned into a "you're not going to be able to do anything about it so worry about yourself." Again, I'm not trying to change anything, its just to see what other fans thought. I finally was able to see that the majority of the fans posting on here are the same guys that go to the games to socialize.

The majority of the responses have been about "people pay their money so they can do whatever they want." I guess I was out of line to ask the question why don't people to go there to actually watch the game and then at intermission go down and get their fix. I have no idea why that question was out of line but a lot of people were confused by it. I've been to other arena's and its not nearly as bad as Detroit so that's why I was asking the question. Let me know if anyone has a legitimate response to the discussion rather than who cares what the players think (which makes no sense), people pay money so they can do whatever they want, or give the reason that people unpredictable. I think its predictable that if you say you're going to a Red Wings game you're going to watch hockey. The question I ask is what happens after that?

ONE MORE TIME. THAT IS STRICTLY AND ONLY UP TO YOU. CONFRONT THE ENEMY OR MOVE ON. :bye::plain:

If Detroit doesn't have true fans, then why are opposing arenas nearly half filled with Red Wings fans almost every time they're on the road?

That same argument could be applied to Leafs fans. When I watch a game at the ACC, whenever the Leafs score, hardly anyone stands up; I see alot of people just sitting in their seats clapping. It's the exact opposite on the road, the fans are crazy and seem to overpower the cheers of the home team fans.
