BTW, I was a Wings fan when they were still called The Dead Things and I was living in the heart of Hawks country. You can't NOT be passionate about your sports team and be in that situation. I took a lot of s*** from people growing up because I just had to root for the Red Wings but hey......you apparently know me soooooooooooo well.

With Osgood playing net any team facing us (no matter how s***) knows that if they get a shot on net they can win, this is ******* pathetic. President's Trophy is now gone we will finish in 2nd and hopefully Babcocks starts Conklin for the remainder of the season to have him playoff ready.

Problem is - and will remain - we have no choice with our two, count 'em, TWO goalies. Neither of them is very consistent right now, so what do you realistically suggest for the Wings to consistently win the remaining games, other than the really simple idea that Conklin's gonna save their asses? Because if you think Conklin is the answer, you just don't understand the concept of team play.

Right now, the whole team - from Lidstrom on down - is not playing to their potential. And at times, like in the third period today, they all looked pretty much like ahl'ers at times, and often at the worst of times.

I don't even agree with Babcock when he said today that the Wings (not only) can't get fired up like the Preds and other teams fighting for playoff spots, but that they're just trying to remain uninjured. Bulls***. Something's gotta start clicking with THE TEAM and it cannot, will not be solely dependent on a goalie change.

Even Nick Lidstrom at 50% is a pretty good defenseman. The red wings at 50% is still a DAMN good team, better than the islanders. Lets play a game, in your mind, put osgood in net for the islanders and put mcdonald in net for us when we played them. Do you think that game would still be a 2-0 loss for us?

The point I'm making is this..like someone else mentioned earlier you shouldn't be a goalie in the NHL if you need your team to play perfect every night. Osgood expects his team to bail him out all the times he f***s up, and they have a lot, and they haven't a lot. but osgood never bails his team out when they f*** up. Conklin has.

well for the most part he has been very solid, especially compared to ozzie. Ozzie just looks so out of sorts out on the ice lately that i have lost almost all confidence in him, at least short term. (this is coming from a life-long ozzie fan) So at this point, who else are we supposed to look at as the answer? and dont say better defense, turnovers happen occasionaly and you need your goalie to step up, ozzie hasnt done this. it kills me to say it though, ozzie is my favorite player

Well clearly we need Conklin to step in and step up. I think at this point the starting playoff job is Conks' to lose and I hope he can handle that. What we have seen of him this year has been good, he's definitely taken over when we needed him to.....it looks like we're going to need him to again.

And yeah, our defense needs work. While Ozzie has been a big problem all year, the defense hasn't been much better and in some ways contributed to Ozzie's less than stellar season. It doesn't matter who we put in goal, if our defense isn't doing its job, we won't win.

I'm going by what you've said. I don't think, given what I previously quoted from you, that it's SO OFF BASE to say you don't care whether we win or lose. You said the only thing that matters is there is always a next game. Okay, so maybe you think the wings have a cool logo or you think zetterberg is cute and you just like to watch games, and winning is nice if we can. That's okay with me, but don't judge those who have a geological tie to the wings and want to see them succeed. Passionate people get angry when they're team losses like we have this season. You wouldn't know. It's irrelevant how long you've been a fan.

Will conklin ensure us the cup? No. Will he give us a better chance? Yes.

We JUST saw this a year ago, yet people are blind to it. Let me draw the comparisons between 07-08 and 08-09.

In 0708, when our starter struggled, our backup was there to win games

Babcock, for whatever reason, seems intent on squashing a square peg into a round hole and continues to force feed us and his team a steady stream of Osgood mediocrity. Maybe he is a genius and knows something that isn't as painfully obvious as the obvious. I don't see it. I see a mediocre goalie with no drive and no passion. On the bench, I see a young goalie with better stats, more confidence and something to prove. But what do I know?

I can only hope that it's some master plan to dangle a s***ty goalie out for Conference rivals to key up on, only to pull a bait and switch just before playoffs and f*** everyone up. That seems a little far fetched... no?

.800 in the SV% colomn is not going to cut it in the NHL, let alone the playoffs. I love Osgood & I appreciate everything he's done for us, but he's not going to get us to the cup; not this year. & I'm not sure if Conklin can either. The big thing against him is that he has no playoff experience, but you have to get it somewhere, sometime.

One of these "diamonds in the rough" needs to be a goalie. With the way we build our team, we can't afford to pick up an elite netminder. We have to draft one. Hopefully, McCollum's that guy. I wouldn't be opposed to throwing him into the playoffs, at least I wouldn't be if I KNEW our defense would play in front of him. I'd hate to see him get embarassed.
