No, actually, in regards to this year at least. It is the stats, and overall play which make this a fact, not opinion. I mean he is ranked 40 plus in GAA and 35 plus in SV% - and has been there the ENTIRE year. I am curious as too what it would take for you to acknowledge the fact Osgood has been pitiful this year?

I know he's not playing well. I just don't bash the guys when they're not playing well, it's not my style. I say I'm disappointed and hope they play better, but I don't say that anyone "sucks". Just not how I operate.

Ya I hear you, but you gotta realize that a lot of that fallout is due to the fact this is not really an isolated incident, at least this year to say the least. I mean it gets to a point (Ozzie's consistent below then avg. play, blowouts, getting shut out by the worst team in the league, defensive lapses that are horrible to say the least, etc)

I agree with you on a lot of your points, but I don't think you can make a statement like this without realizing why the fallout happens the way it does.

I completely understand why it happens, and it bothers me. I hate that half the people that come on here only do so to ***** and moan about how terrible a player is or the team is. I understand why they do it and I know I can't change that, but it bothers me nonetheless. I also agree that some/most of these complaints are pefectly valid. That doesn't make it any less annoying when we're winning most of the game and the other team scores and suddenly everything is flooded with DOOM DOOM END OF THE WORLD EVERYONE SUX!!!11!!

So honestly, I can't understand why people get to scream that on a GDT, but I say 'naysayers' and someone says I'm making a statement. I'm not trying to harp on you or start a pissing match or anything. I'm just frustrated. This should have been a nice, solid win, but we didn't show up in the third, I can admit that freely.

And now the boards will implode in a bitchfight, and frankly, I've seen sorority houses full of girls on their periods who ***** and moan less than these boards after a loss.

Osgood was solid through the first two. Then the third came. Gave up three goals on three shots, two of which were WAAAAY soft.

How did they sit back? Franzen got the 3rd. The Wings outshot them. They didn't sit back at all. Osgood just dropped the ball again. This wasn't at all like that terrible Calgary game.

I never know what to expect when I watch a game anymore. Last year, we played like a well-oiled machine, and I almost always expected a solid effort, and usually a win. This year, I feel like there's a 50/50 shot at winning, even when they're up by a goal or two (or three, or four, sadly).

Wow, the Wings never disappoint...for the other team that is. How is it this team does this sort of thing on a regular basis? Especially at the end of the season when you need every point. It really sucks to see all of these other teams getting ready for the playoffs, playing their asses off, and then our team totally blowing it like this. We aren't going to make it past the first round if we can't hold a lead. Our defence is terrible, and Osgood has to come up with these clutch saves.

I love the Wings. But if they don't start showing up then we can all kiss the second round goodbye. I'm not trying to be a Negative Nancy, but let's just put our homerism aside. When Ozzie was playing poorly at the beginning of the season, I was one of the few who wasn't going to "wait till March" before getting worried. Do all of those people who seriously thought that he and the defense could somehow turn it on for the playoffs still think this? We have 7 games to go and they are showing barely any changes. They Wings look like they're just trying to get by with talent alone, which doesn't seem to be working. I hope Babcock ***** slaps each one of them to wake them up.

I will say this again. I am not a fairweather fan. I am not a bandwagoner. I am not a pessimist. I am not a Wings basher. I love the Wings and I am only saying these things because I love them and I care about how they perform. I am still a fan. I do think they can turn this around, but it's not going to be easy. I also think it's really sad that I need a disclaimer like this to avoid getting bashed on these boards.

I agree to an extent. Your goalie has to make some big saves. But your D has to help out (block shots,etc.)

Ok cmon, this team play defense as well as most teams in the league. Teams give up chances - it happens. Momentum in games shifts. If I recall the wings again were outplaying the preds for the majority of the game. I think after 2 it was like 29 to 19 shots or so. When it was 2-1 I said to myself - "no way 2 goals is enough with Osgood in net". And then? 3 goals on like 3 shots. All stoppable. I don't know what to say anymore. I'm banking on the fact that Babcock will come to his senses about playing Osgood in the playoffs, but who knows?

I really think that we will be gone in the first round - second tops with him in net. He is just... Horribly bad.

cause ozzie makes me sick to watch.. seems like he doesnt even wanna play. no confidence in him when the opposing team is even remotely close to the net, scratch that in the defensive zone. at least with conks i have confidence that pretty much we'll be ok. no lead is safe with ozzie in net, and that just kills me. i dont have that same mindset with conks is in net.

and can you see ozzie's post game interview? "ummm i feel real good... just some bad bounces, but ummm things are turning around and i feel ready for april".

Agreed to a point..... I am SICK AND TIRED of hearing him say "Just gotta put this one behind me and look for the next one" I cant take it anymore, He hasnt shown any reason to have THAT much confidence in him for a Sucessful playoff run.... not during the second half any way...... The team with the bigger heart, will and determination won today. Mike Babcock should bench Lidstrom and let him rest for the next 6 games, either he's getting old or is really hurting, I don't know... but he's really needs to be rested. He's been just brutal.

He's been playing bad all season, and the success of this team long-term and this season depend solely on him. If Osgood fails, we'll need a goalie for next year, and probably can't afford Hossa, not that he would even stay with a team with Osgood as #1. The goalie is the only position that controls the success of a team. Bad goalie, bad team, out in first round. It's the most important position, and we have the worst guy in the league. The team can afford to have a few guys with a bad game. But when Osgood has had dozens of bad games this season, he sucks. Period.

Look at the possible teams we're gonna play against. Edmonton - BARELY pulled out a win in the last mins of the last game. Nashville - Blown out on the road and now embarrassed at home. The onlt team we've played well against are the Blues...but they're on fire right now.
