It's fairly simple. He's complacent. He shows zero drive and zero passion. Granted, he's never been the most openly passionate person to start with, but he acts as if he has nothing to prove. That does not bode well for the team as a whole. It doesn't help matters that he can log on to this site and read a slew of posts propping him up and talking about past glory as if it has any bearing on the current season.

All this talk about how Osgood is a starter and Conklin is a career back-up. What a joke. Osgood has always been better as a back-up (last season, anyone? Hellooooo).

Great Post ^^.. Osgood was a career back up but because of a cup last season, people are saying he is a career starter. Go out and ask other fans whether Osbad is a career starter. If he was not in the Wings, he would not get that many wins. Because this team did not need and still do not need a great goaltender, they just afford a goalie who is paid a little bit but has a great effect. I never thought Osgood is a career starter and last season for him was also a career back up except for the playoff

He is done now. He will never come back. You know a little sloppy play made by him every game. We need a good goaltender, not a great goaltender. I saw one post that Osgood has better odds to win thant Luongo, Brodeur, and other goalies. Do they know hockey? Everyone except for the Red Wings fans know those goalies are far better than Osbad.

Here's where I am. I have honestly lumped all you Ozzie Sucks posters in together. So, to differentiate - if you believe Ozzie is the main problem with this team....If you believe Conklin will save the day....if you believe the team is playing well enough to get through the playoffs if there's a goalie change, well I think chances are you are being unrealistic. It is simply not that simple. I would like nothing better to be proven wrong by Conklin. In fact, I will live for that moment. (BECAUSE I WILL SUPPORT WHATEVER GOALIE IS IN NET. I'M A FAN. NOT A ******* OWNER OR COACH??!!) And I will come on this board and acknowledge his talent if he pulls it off. And how about you? If Ozzie ends up saving the day for our Wings, will you do the same? I sincerely, fervently doubt it.

At least Conklin is enough but Osbad has never been like that throught out the season. Maybe some like Joey shutout us few days ago. If goalies cannot bounce back from the slump during given few months, isn't that pretty much telling? I really do not know either but Conklin is at least way better than Osbad this season.

To add my comment one more, Osgood does not look responsible for goals he allowed so far. He always interviews with words like " I am fine, I feel really good, I think I am going on the right way" even though the Wings lost because of mostly him. What a pathetic statement. If goalies allow weak goals, the team loses whole momentum and can do nothing. That was all Osbad's story this season.

And meanwhile maybe the team as a whole can work on not giving up the puck in their own zone. Ya think?

What are you saying? Osgood is having a hard enough time keepingthe puck out of the net as it is, We shouldnt be knocking them in ourselves? Agreed to that.

Well, even though you're enjoying your freedom to not care, I'm going to tell you that I would absolutely love it if Osgood could pull together & win another one. I love the man, but I'm just not feeling it this year & I don't think he is either.

& there are several fairweather Osgood fans everywhere. Trust me. Most people would love it if he could do it. They just aren't expecting it from what they've seen.

That's right a lot of them don't know their ass from their elbow about hockey. But the whole boring debate about our goaltending has gone on far to long , as pathetic as it is. Can't wait until the regular season is over.

I don't see the point forecasting a CBJ's matchup, Columbus is missing the playoffs. You heard it here first. 2 games against Nash, 2 games against St. Louis who is unbeatable lately, they've got it tough. Five points doesn't mean a lot when all your games are against those chasing you.

I'm quick to blame Chelios for that stupid penalty that cost the Wings the game but it's not just that. The Wings had a 2-1 lead going into the third period and seem to play some good hockey the first 5 minutes of the third and once Nashville tied it up we were running around the ice like we didn't know what to do. I still feel that Chelios needs to be done after this season and I'd love to be the coach so I could bench Chelly and get someone good in there. I really want Lilja to get back into the game but I don't want him jeapordizing his health. So get well soon Lil's we need you back on the ice just as soon as you can be.

Cool with the "hell yeah" comment. Meanwhile, confidence, Schmonfidence. Point is, we are not Babcock. And I totally agree with you that there is no answer for that question. We can only hope there is a go-to guy for the Wings in net. We have no control over whether it's Ozzie or Conklin. My plan is to support whoever is in net. That's all I can do as a fan. What a concept, eh?!
