So apparently this guy dumped some beer or something on Torts and he threw a water bottle back into the seats and it a woman in the face.....the league is investigating and he could be suspended. Also, he apparently grabbed a player's stick and tried to joust with the guy.

WTF is wrong with some people?

I don't care if someone poured a beer on his head, you don't throw stuff into the crowd especially if you are the head coach. Coaches are supposed to set examples, not throw water bottles into the crowd. I hope he gets suspended for Game #6.

That's dumb. If someone dumps beer on you, you defend yourself. Yeah, it's bad the woman got hit, but it's not like she's hospitalized.

It's very simple; as a professional, someone dumps beer on you, you get the attention of security and have that individual escorted out. Chucking something into the stands is reprehensible. Just because the woman wasn't hurt seriously, doesn't mean he shouldn't be punished. The NHL calls penalties whether someone is injured or not. Tort should be suspended for Game 6. Bettman would show that the NHL will not stand for childish behavior from coaching staffs.

If the woman was injured, Tort should be suspended for more than 1 game and prosecuted. He can't expect Avery to behave himself if he can't keep his head about him

Stupid thing for the fan to do, and an equally stupid thing for Torts to do. He will most likely be suspended for game 6, the league just can't tolerate something like this.

If the NHL does nothing then it will be like they are saying it's ok to throw things into the crowds.

Where's Mike Milbury when you need him?

Classless display by both Tortorella and the fan.

Edit: Typoed Milbury.

Not if you're a coach. It would be dumb enough for a player to do, but a coach? They're supposed to set the Discipline Example, correct?

Classy all around. I understand being upset at perfectly good beer being wasted, but it *is* up to Torts as a representative of the league to take the high ground.

Too bad he benched Avery. Avery would have been up in the stands and solved two problems for Torts at once.

Very intelligent. Like it or not, it's the price you pay as a professional to conduct yourself in a certain manner.

I find it funny that Avery was a healthy scratch for being undisciplined, and then Tortorella pulls this. Practice what you preach buddy.

Always has been a bit of a hot head though.

It does seem like the pot is calling the kettle back with him flipping out like this only after scratching Avery for what was disciplinary reasons. For the players it must be a little unsettling for your coach to do something like that as he is supposed to be one preaching and practicing discipline and poise. I think him throwing the bottle into the crowd is uncalled for, but aside from that I don't think there is a problem. Buying a ticket does not entitle you to throw beer on players and coaches and as a player or coach I think you have a right to defend yourself. Should he have retaliated? No. Did he have good reason or even a right to? Yes.

Its understandable to react like he did to that. I mean common if some dick head poored a beer on you don't tell me your not going to loose your cool and do something you probably shouldn't. Professional or not hes still a normal guy

He "should have" restrained himself, but I agree with you. If some cheesedick poored beer on me, I'd probably climb over the glass.

I've had someone dump beer on me before. Granted it wasn't on purpose. I was pissed, but I wasn't about to start a fight because of it. Tort gets paid millions of dollars to coach hockey. I'm pretty sure he can and should hold his cool if someone dumps a beer on him.
