Norris Trophy Candidate, Mike Green, might also be suspended. Hearings this afternoon.

I can see the issue with Brashear, even though the NHL is coming down a bit hard on both incidents regarding him. But I must have missed what happened with Green. One article said something about biting?!

As you probably saw in the article, Green is also scheduled for a hearing at 1 pm. But there's a whole lot of confusion about who did what to whom and that's probably part of what they'll be sorting out at that time. Don't know why it should be questionable because video doesn't lie...?!

The other word is that espn may have really screwed up on what they reported and have already retracted most of it. The only other thing I "know" for sure is that the player Brashear hit has a broken orbital bone and is out of the playoffs.

Brashear will get suspended for the pre-game incident alone. While it is nothing signficant at all, the league rules are pretty specific on this and you are not to make physical contact with your opponent at that time. I think that would get him a game.

I think the hit on Betts warrants a suspension as well. I'm not sure if it is an elbow or not, looks like one, but it could be one of those situations where the elbow comes up on the follow through, haven't seen good enough video to make that call (and I was watching the game, so I'm not sure one exists). That said, the hit was dirty. Betts dumps the puck in and turned to go off on a change....there was no need for the hit.

The reality is that it's going to take a serious injury resulting in brain damage or death before the refs start taking calling it consistently. And Betts had a visor on, right?

Thanks for the vid NFM. That was ruthless. Definately deserves at least 5 games for that. I wouldn't be surprised if he got more than that. That's intent to injure and he successfully accomplished that as well.

The only thing I heard is potential biting (earlier in this thread), but I haven't heard it anywhere else.

If that is the case, I don't think he can be suspended unless there is video evidence, otherwise, it's just hearsay. If he did bite someone, he should be suspended.

5 regular season games...i say he'll get 2...maybe 3 for this hit. It was a nasty hit, but suspensions in the playoffs seem to be a bit less (not saying i agree with that, just the way it goes).

Is everybody insane in this series? In a series this tight Avery, Tortorella, and Brashear now all pulling this remarkably stupid stuff? The NHL needs to put the smack down on Brashear for that. A blow to the head on a player in the middle of the ice with the puck far away?

I'd say one out of ten is a stretch, and thats just for the penalties handed out during the game. Suspensions are issued accordingly just about every time.

Evidence can be tough on something like this. Ask Costanza, as hard as he tried he couldn't prove it was Jon Voight's teeth marks on that pencil.

That hit by Brashear was brutal, his intent was exactly what it looked like it was.

I am 99% positive that the names are mixed up. I'm HIV positive that it was Shaone Morrison that bit Dubinsky, not Green.
