I havn't heard a word about him, will he be back for the second round or what?

Lilja and Ericsson

Now that's a nasty 3rd defensive paring.

both are what 6'4 220+?

He is not going to play any time soon. He might never play again :(

Where did you get this information.. is there an article on this? I hope thats not true

All I could find is this.

Better not be true.. always liked Lilja .. even when people bashed his turnovers a couple years ago.

That would be the ultimate paring. But, I'm afraid that Lils will be too much out of shape for this series (if he were to come back)

Just nasty, It's been a long time since we've been able to have 2 huge guys like that on D. I got a feeling we won't see it this playoffs :(.

I've hated Lilja up until this year. I found his game so drastically improved this year that its made the past become history and I have to say that it would really be great to have him back on the Blueline with Ericsson. I never thought I'd say anything like that but I am. Hope he makes it back ASAP.

Red Wing Andreas Lilja, who has been out with an injury for several weeks, spent a few minutes on the ice before practice at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit on Wednesday, April 29, 2009.

That he's been able to skate is great news.

As for the bleed, if they're letting him take any physical activity at all, it's stopped and should be most of the way healed-just a matter of the body takking up the excess.

It shouldn't limit his play when he comes back- it's similar to what Franzen had.

Wow, this place went from a Lilja sucks to an I miss Lilja place quickly. There are too many haters in the Red Wings Nation.

I wasn't here when it happened, but where there all kinds of Fischer haters on the bandwagon when he went down?

I just hope he's feeling better, I couldn't imagine getting a headache every couple of hours. Must be horrible.

As much as I would love to see him back this year, it's not looking very realistic. Get well soon, Lilly.

At this point the biggest concern is conditioning. His head may be ready now (I hope it is) but he's got weeks and weeks of conditioning to regain. He hasn't been to the gym since the injury... When you haven't lifted weights in more than a month it's an uphill battle getting back to where you were. These players aren't used to taking a week off of skating, let alone a month!

It will likely take him the same amount of time to get back into the shape he was in before as it took him to get out of conditioning. So let's say he's been away from the gym for 5 weeks. The rule of thumb is he'd need another 5 weeks to get that conditioning back.

Franzen was lucky because his injury didn't keep him away from the gym this long... at this point Lilja's conditioning is just wrecked. Anyone remember how terrible Cleary looked after he came back from his jaw injury? At least Lilja's been able to maintain a non-liquid diet :P

 Actually, no one's been riding Lilja this year for the most part. He's the only member of the defense that took a step forward this season.

If I'm not mistaken, he sustained his concussion on February 27th, meaning he's past two months without any physical activity. He's done for the year, I'm almost certain.

It's been a while now and I might be remembering this wrong, but I don't think there were HATERS on the Lang-Samuelsson (and formerly Lilja) plateau. But people were starting to question whether he'd live up to his potential.

Great to see Lilja's skating at least! I don't expect him back this run, but back at some point would be ideal obviously.

This year everybody like Lilja. People were saying he sucked in previous years, when he did suck. Ditto Fischer - though I think Lilja this year was better than Fischer ever was. Fischer was definately made out to be better than he was on this board after he got hurt, but I don't see that with Lilja.

Words can't describe how lucky George Parros is right now.

He's actually going to get good sleep in this series.

Your Man Love for Lilja is odd and causes you to have an overbown view of his ability in the physical department. Parros would never be scared of Andreas Lilja, in fact it would not be a fight.

He's just being sarcastic, it's been an ongoing thing for the last year or so. You should check his post histroy, there's some pretty priceless material in there. On topic, good for Lils, I'd really feal horrible for him if his hockey career was ended by a fight like that. Get well #3.

I have a bad feeling he won't be back this year, but I sure as hell hope he is! I hope he has a very speedy recovery too...

and in response to the earlier post about him wearing a visor, I'm pretty sure that's just an extra precaution, until he is 100% healthy, I'm pretty sure once he is cleared to play, he will ditch the visor again

Fischer was not overrated at all - he was young and improving every single year.

Fast skater, huge body, excellent puck control, could play physical, hit hard, took lessons from Kocur and took Hartnell out in one punch in a fight, great passer and had a hard shot. Defensemen, especialy big defensemen, take a long time to develop.
