More importantly, how does our Home record against the DUCKS look?

W - 1

L - 1

GF - 6

GA - 6

Not quite what I'd like to see, to be honest.

Indeed that sux. Well I just hope we can play smart and stay out of the box (that seemed to kill us on sunday). Either way I knew this series would be a tough one.

Now.....

Now that the doom and gloom is out of the way....

While I'm stiiiiiiill wary, I'm ALSO still confident. I like the Wings chances of taking this Series.

The Wings ARE the better Team.

Beyond Getzlaf, Perry Ryan, the Ducks don't have much.

Hiller has NOT been very good. If the Wings can get to the rebounds he's popping out like a Pez dispenser, they'll be able to pot a few.

I belive the Wings are SMARTER than they were the last couple of times they faced the Duckies. And I think they've learned a thing or two about how easy it is for the "better" Team to lose a Series.

They need to come out full bore from the opening face off.

They need to NOT play the Ducks game. Hits are nice. Goals are better.

They need to DRIVE the net.

They need to battle for loose pucks.

They need to get Z and Pavs and Hoss going....NOW.

They NEED to play RED WINGS Hockey.

If they do, they've got this.

Go Wings, Go!

One thing that I'm not sure has been mentioned yet in this thread, as to why people are "freaking out" about this loss:

2007

-Without 2 key Dmen

-Special teams that are struggling

-their defense somewhat shutting down our offense

-a split at home to start off the series

-a narrow win to start off the series

-a 4-3 OT loss in game 2

- A Wings team that isn't playing with the same intensity they played with against the Flames.

2009

-Without 2 key Dmen

-Special teams that are struggling

-their defense somewhat shutting down our offense

-a split at home to start off the series

-a narrow win to start off the series

-a 4-3 OT loss in game 2

- A Wings team that isn't playing with the same intensity they played with against the BJs.

To me, I have confidence. But I'm also pissing my pants in fear. Of the Ducks? No. Of the eerie way that this series has panned out almost identically to the heartbreaking series against the Ducks in 07 so far? Yes.

That was my point, YoungGuns.....

While everyone on the planet can state that this Ducks Team is not as good at the 2007 version, THIS DUCKS TEAM does NOT believe that.

And sometimes that belief is ALL it takes.

Wings better WAKE UP!

At the end of the season, Mason posted really bad performance like one month something like this. That is why I had a confidence because everything can be changed but as the matter of fact that Mason is a ROOKIE AND ONLY 19(I think). However, Hiller has been consistently good, not sensational like Mason but really solid.

Moreover, regardless of Ducks goalie situation, as YoungGuns1340 said just above that this year's Wings look very similar to 07 season's Wings. Regular season, even though we were the 1st that year, this year's Regular season team is far better and the playoff, we performed better than 2007. However, what makes me worry is that the story of 2007 looks to repeat.

For game 1, the score was 2-1 as my memory. Next game, different story but same end; went to the over time and allowed a goal. Next game 3, we destroyed the Ducks by 5-0. I do not know what will occur tomorrow but I kind gained the scariness from yesterday's game. It is not important series is tied evenly at this point because only 2 games are played but the laziness the Wings showed in the 1st and 2nd periods should not happene again until the end of the series. If the Wings bring up same effort and the level of their play from since period 3, I have faith the Wings will claim a triumph. Besides, the first line really has to show some effective work or result. Neither way happens, I am going to be sad.

Yes we are down 2-1, but the Sux got just about every bounce and call tonight. Let's just say lady luck has been on their side the last couple of games. And while the wings play in the first left much to be desired tonight, they looked good for parts of the second and the third. At some point, lady luck will shift to us. I have no doubt, but I would like to see Mike put Leino in the lineup to possibly give our 4th or third line more firepower. We need a change of big mo, and inserting some firepower might just do the trick. I mean, I just cannot see what good it does to send out a line that you just know isn't going to score, and it takes goals to win. Yes, having size is great, having goals is better...... and Leino at least gives the bottom of the lineup some punch. Mike....there is no tomorrow....it is time to make adjustments. While your at it, shake up the Datty Hossa line.... They have done nothing. Go with what has done it for us in the past. D and Z must be put back together at some point. And yes I know that Z's line is producing a point a game. But, without giving D and company some confidence to build on (which they would have had if not for a blown call tonight) 1 point a game from our best players is going to have us playing golf by the end of the week. Time to shuffle it up mikey.

I think I agree with you that we need to relax. If the Wings pull off game 4, then we're in a best of 3 with 2 games at home. That's a good position to be in. So it's not quite time to hit the panic button yet. But for God's sake, can people PLEASE realize that the ZETTERBERG LINE IS NOT TO BE TOUCHED. That line is the best two-way line in hockey right now. Speed, skill, and grit. No reason to do anything with that line. Bump Helm up to the Datsyuk line and knock Homer down to the Kopecky line, and the 2nd line for the Wings will get going to. The 2nd line is short on speed right now. Helm can fix that.

yeah everyone! Calm down! Listen, things could be a whole lot worse. We could be down 2-1 in a series that's being decided by the referees, two games away from the golf course and playing like s***!

... oh... wait... damn. <_<

This ******* series is over. They have imposed their will on us and dominating our star players. Props to them, they want it more. The only chance we have is if we get Raffi and Drapes back and if ******* Babs puts the ZDH line back together. It's amazing, I thought the only way we'd lose this series is if Ozzie played terrible, but he has actually played really good. ******* s***, I'm so ******* pissed off and drunk right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, I'm trying to damnit. But just when our "star" players seem to be getting off their ass and playing, the refs...well you know.

I might be leaving town soon. Gonna go be a pirate and sail the seas. Not one of those BS Somalian pirates. But a jolly, spirited pirate who steals from the evil. Like NHL refs. GARRRRRRRRR!!!

A few months back there was this thread concerning who would be Detroit's biggest nemesis for the playoffs (or was it who we as posters here didn't wish to see Detroit play?).....Anywho my response was Anaheim, & for those who scoffed at my answer - this is why Anaheim scares me; they're a team not built for the reg season, but for the playoffs.

There's alot of hockey left, but if the Wings can't pull off a win come Thursday night - well their chances are slim coming back from a 3-1 deficit <_<

Anaheim is built for playoffs? No way.

Sharks were outworked and they would win the series if they worked just as hard.

Wings are making the same mistake..not working hard enough for full 60 minutes.

Good point.

I'm glad we didn't play them in the first round the way things ended up on the last day of the season.

The Wings could already be golfing if not for the Blues.

So I just got home from the game tonight. Sat 12 rows up in the corner at ice level, where the Wings shot twice.

I was not impressed with the effort by the Wings. Hiller was good, Pronger stayed out of the box, and we got totally worked by the refs tonight!

This will be a short series if things dont change.

I have to be honest.. the only thing that angers me more than the crappy no goal call is the attitude of 90% of this forum right now. Yes, it sucks that we lost the game when it should've been tied and that the Wings, once again, failed to come together in the first half.. but holy cow. Are you a fan of this team or just a fan of the W? You guys are acting we have no chance at all. Where's the faith? There's people on this forum saying the series is over and we should pack it in. I mean... really? What fan does that?

Look at these threads. They're pathetic. We're so used to winning that when something like this happens, we want to throw our team under a bus one by one and watch them burn. We have a whole thread dedicated to bashing Datsyuk. DATSYUK of all freaking people. We have a thread calling for HOLMSTROM to be benched. Yeah.. the best goalie screener in the league - benched.

Grow up, LGW. It's 2-1. It's the freaking WINGS. How many times have we seen them fight back with such intensity that we all had to sit back and say "That's my Wings".

I love you guys, but my goodness.. be a fan of the damn team. Stop jumping ship and acting like the city is about to burn down. It's not. And if you think WE are feeling the pressure, imagine how the teams feels - and imagine what it would be like to find out that your "fans" have started trashing you because you lost two games in the playoffs.

Knock it off.

Don't kid yourself; Anaheim is built for the playoffs; they're bigger, faster, not afraid to crash the net/get dirty, and have been creating more opportunities when compared to the Wings...Wings aren't going hard to the net, not crashing the goalie, not cycling the puck down low, and all their chances are shots taken 20 plus feet out from the net with few bodies in front of Hiller to screen him, or to be ready for a rebound...Unless there's a continuing flow of Ducks heading to the pen box giving the Wings a plethora of pp opportunities (like we would see in the reg season) - don't expect us getting into the next round.

Wings didn't face an opponent last spring as challenging as these Ducks are, and that includes the Pens...Whoever wins this series will go onto the Cup Finals.

Bigger? maybe, but that means absolutely nothing. They do not dominate physical game.

Faster? I doubt it.

More oppotunites? Are you kidding? They scored after brutal giveaway and old Chelios on the blueline.

Ducks are not playing well at all, it's just that Wings are playing even worse hockey.

Yeah..so you make another redundant thread filled with your wise stuff. Great job.

Yes. You see, generally speaking, that's how a forum works. People make topics, say what they need to say, and move on.

Shocking concept, I know.. but I took advantage of it.

I said this another thread, but the Wings have yet to play an important game of hockey since they beat the Pens last year. Thursday will be their first, and if they don't come out with a bit of pizazz, then I may begin to worry.

Im with ya Ms H

The crap that is spewed in here is unbearable at times. I think some people search with a fine toothed comb and critique every little thing about the Wings and miss the actual excitement of the game.
