Positives to take if Wings get knocked out

Ok, let me start by saying I want the Wings to repeat as Cup Champs. If they had to lose, I'd rather see them los in the finals than to Aneheim. With that being said, here are a couple of positives that may come out of losing to Anaheim (for next season) Or lets put it, where do we go from there?

You will probably see the last of Sammy, Lebda, Chelios. The whole Hossa scenario would become clearer, he doesn't re-sign or signs for far less because of his lack of performing in the playoffs. You get to keep either Hudler or Filppula, the latter being my first choice. You could still get rid of both of them and save money for a top 5 goaltender. You will definately see the like of Helm, Abdelkader, Ericsson, Leino, possibly Kindl (I am not so sold on Howard, if we don't sign Hossa, then try to get Khabibulen or someone of that nature (if available.))

Our defensive problems. Hmmmmm, will Brad McCrimmon still be here? RIght now there are two VERY good coahes out there who would fill in nicely for McCrimmon, Guy Carbonneau and Jacques Lemaire (once again the latter beingmy choice.) BUT would they come here for an assistant role? Lemaire would turn this defense into something special, especially if Lilja is cleared to play and Ericsson hee fulltime. If Kindl can make it that would be 4 out of 6 defensmen over 6' and 200 lbs. Lids and Rafi being, well, Lids and Rafi that would make a pretty impressive D Corps. If Kindl can play his way in to the lineup that is. If not you have Meech, who probably is more suited as a forward on this team. Of course there may not be room up there either.

I don't know, all this talk about the "Call" and the thuggery and refs, I just thought I'd post a thread with something other than that to talk about.

I want the Wings to win, but if they do, that is the worst thing that could happen for the kids of this organization, because Holland won't want to make too many changes. If they lose, obviously it'll be devistating, but then getting rid of or losing some players may no hurt as much. If we lose, Hossa should give us even more of a discount, lets say, like Franzen money. That'll free up cash for a goaler if needed. Maybe the Wings could convince Maltby to retire.

Positives? Hopefully Holland will realize Hossa isn't worth the money. So we can keep Hudler and Sammy.

Hopefully Kenny realizes theres a difference between outhitting a team, and out playing a team physically. Helm has been the only player who has the intent on running the player through the boards this whole series.

Val - Dats - Homer

Huds- Zette - Franzen

Cleary - Helm - Sammy

Kopecky - Draper - COLTON ORR!!!!

BOOM. Thats what i want to see next year :)

couldn't you have waited to post this until later? c'mon. There's still a lot of hockey to be played, and still plenty of chances for those players to make a huge difference in this series. someone please delete this. :censored:

I'll bite:

Zetterberg - Datsyuk - UFA (bearded Canadian prick)

Franzen - Filpulla - UFA (bearded Canadian *******)

Cleary - Helm - Leino

Maltby - Draper - Holmstrom

Lidstrom - Rafalski

Kronwall - Stewart

Lilja - Ericcson

Osgood (equipped with oversized pads)

Howard

For our goaltending, I wouldn't mind Osgood and Howard/Larsson at all next year. Look at all of these 20-25 year old goalies coming up and showing they can start immediately. Larsson will be 24 and Howard will be 26 next year, if we believe that one of them will ever start for us, why not give it a shot? Osgood has shown he's still got some mojo if Howard or Larsson don't succeed.

I'm just sick of the patented Red Wings 2-year StopGap® in goal, and I don't think there's a franchise goaltender available this offseason.

I think we should wait and make this thread after 2morow night's game when the wings go down 3-1 :P

I actually think they should wait until the scenario of the Wings getting eliminated actually comes to fruition, if it even does. But since this thread's already a joke, may as well add another -- if the Wings get knocked out I hope they go out and get some more soft Europeans just to piss off those who obsessive-compulsively complain about it. Then hopefully either we'll get some /wrists, or they might bugger off to another team.

You may be a nice guy, but sometimes your timing sucks. Absolutely sucks. And that also goes for the originator of this thread.

^^^^this. I am almost ashamed of some of you right now. This thread should be done after a team loses, not in the middle of a closely contested one. What bothers me, is that some of you all are worse than Pens fans. They are down 2-0, and still mostly confident over on their boards. Here, we are down 2-1.....in a series where ALL games could have gone either way....and some are ready to throw in the towel. What are parents teaching their children these days??????

Whether we win or lose there are always changes I am up for. Namely, bringing in bigger bodies.

One of the announcers said it best when Helm was hitting people...."he's 5-11, 187 pounds!". When the Ducks hit you, those boys are 6-2, 205 pounds.

I've had this argument with fellow LGWers for years that at some point the factors of size and strength will take its toll.

Seriously, doesn't it bother anybody here in the slightest that at the end of a game that the Ducks win, they want to add insult to injury and have 4 guys go after Franzen at the same time, Getzlaf can't even find a dance partner and when Z grabs him Getzlaf just brushes him off like whatever and Pronger is so pissed and such a tough guy he's desperately trying to get loose and unload on Pavel! DOESN'T THAT PISS PEOPLE OFF!

I tell you one thing, if Brendan Shananan were still here he'd have happily obliged any Duck on the ice at the end of last night's game.

At some point the Wings need to start drafting bigger, meaner players. You've got to have some nastiness mixed in with all the finesse.

Just my opinion.

Of course last year we were faring a little bit better. I wonder if McCarty and more importantly, Drake, had anything to do with that.

Come on, dude ... you subtitled this thread "Don't Kill Me, Please... ". That means there was a little voice somewhere inside you that told you this was a bad idea. Listen to that voice! The series is 2-1, it is not time to be thinking about next year, much less sharing those thoughts.
