C-TownWing 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 Didn't he wear 6 in Grand Rapids? He should test the level of hate the Ilitches have for Larry Aurie.
Casey 145 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 I like 52. He plays like a football linebacker, may as well have an appropriate number. Either that, or something we don't have any of... say, 68 or 79.
GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 IIRC, Ken Daniels mentioned earlier this season that Ericsson liked #52 and was going to continue wearing it even when he became a permanent member of the Red Wings.

55fan 5,133 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 (edited) 24? He's the Second Coming of Probert. Of course if Cheli doesn't retire, he may have to be 24a for a decade or so. Edited May 21, 2009 by 55fan

bonan78 1 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 Unless there is another number that has personal meaning to him, he should stick with 52. If he liked wearing #4 while at GR, he could switch back to that, but it would look funny with how big he is. I like 52, it's not a very common number, I can't think of very many other NHL'ers that have worn it.
norrisnick 1 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 The best LW of all time was wearing #20 for Detroit. 1. Bobby Hull was never a Red Wing. 2. Bobby Hull never wore #20.
Systemfel 33 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 Hoping for #44.
weGotTheCup89 41 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 I'm really confused why Z continued to use that "rookie" #40, when he used #20 all his career until he got to detroit...in 2001/2002 detroit had not signed Lang had they? Actually it was just in a thread the other day.. Z wore 15 as a rookie, then switched to 40. And he's gonna be a Wing until he's 40, so fitting.

Z wore #15 during the annual rookie tournament in Traverse City. Before training camp ended he had #40.
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 He's the Second Coming of Probert. Of course if Cheli doesn't retire, he may have to be 24a for a decade or so. He's definitely no Probert. My choice is more hoping that the current holder of that number (and roster spot) will realize it's time to move on.

I made that post and said to another member that YOU come and correct me. You're so predictable NN. Awesome.

I was being sarcastic. He could become 65 so people remember he has grown an inch and stop putting his height at 6'4".
norrisnick 1 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 I think he was talking about Robitaille I know. Luc might crack the top 10. Maybe.
swedishconnection 36 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 (edited) Z wore #15 during the annual rookie tournament in Traverse City. Before training camp ended he had #40. Aktuali..... Zata wore 20 for Timra Red Eagles, then 15 during the Rookie camp, then doubled his original # from Timra since it was retired in his honor, and therefore has worn 40 for DET ever since. Theres videos of his interviews in his first 2 years with someone asking him this exact question. Sorry, Im a Zata-Fanatic.... ***EDIT*** Since this is about B-52 Bomber... I think he should keep the # he has. If he chooses a different # then I am all for it. As long as he chooses a number that he will wear. If not, then Sweater sales will be down next year. We shouldnt have to blame a hockey player for the economy's failures. Edited May 22, 2009 by swedishconnection

haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 I was being sarcastic. He could become 65 so people remember he has grown an inch and stop putting his height at 6'4". He seriously grew an inch?? Now I hope he just puts on about 15 pounds of muscle. 6'5" 220+ and mobile makes for a pretty scary defenseman.
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 I know. Luc might crack the top 10. Maybe. I'm gonna hafta suggest that anyone who's on the top-ten list all-time in goals has a guaranteed spot somewhere in the top ten at his position.
Doggy 130 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 I know. Luc might crack the top 10. Maybe. While I anticipated you coming along to correct someone's post (what else do you do here?), I honestly didn't expect you to say something as dumb as THAT. The highest scoring LW in history can't crack the top 10.
