I know alot of you are Whalers fans here, but since they were out I kind of found myself cheering for Windsor! They are the first Memorial Cup team to start out 0-2 and win the tournament! As well as this is their first Memorial Cup in the teams history!

Congrads to the 2009 Memorial Cup Champions Windsor Spitfires!!

Taylor Hall was the MVP, which kind of shocked me because the other teams were playing him like Datsyuk!! I guess now that Windsor has a new arena now, they can now hang a banner in their new arena!!

Good for Windsor. After having Mickey Renaud pass away last year, it was only fitting. They have 2 of the most dynamic up and comers in the game as well in Ryan Ellis and Taylor Hall (Who I cannot wait to watch next year in at the WJC!)

I forgot about Mickey Renaud! I do remember hearing about it! Taylor Hall is the real deal!! I think the dude is better than Patrick Kane!

How old is he right now? 17, he'll be all world when he's Kanes age. He's smarter then him, and plays a stronger defensive game.

Not sure of his age, I just heard comparisons of him and Kane, and I just don't see it!! Hall, like you said; is far and away better already!

I'll tell you, I enjoyed watching this tournament, it was fun and exciting, these kids are fast and great.

I like what you said about his defensive play, because I fully agree. He gets back on D quick like Datsyuk and Zetterberg! I'm not comapring him to Dats and Z, but if he continues like he did in this tournament, dude is going to be a stud!!

Yea go Spits!! I switched over to watch the game today after the Wings were putting a beat down on the Hawks.

Spits scored 3 goals on their first 3 shots!

Congrats to the hometown boys!

Hall is a fantastic player, he really has all the tools to be great. He just needs to learn to use his teammates better, he can be somewhat of a barb.

They have plenty of other banners to hang at the WFCU Centre...this isn't their first championship...just their first Memorial Cup Championship. They've won the OHL Championship in the past, but this is their first time as Canadian Major Junior hockey champions. The season they put together was one of the best in history.

Congrats Spits!!

You made Windsor proud, and gave us something to rally around in one of the toughest times in the our city's history!

Toronto Star.

The Spitfires also brought out the No. 18 jersey of Mickey Renaud, their former captain who died suddenly of an apparent heart problem during the 2007-08 season. The team keeps the jersey in the locker room so he is not forgotten.

When the final buzzer sounded at the Colisee de Rimouski, an assistant coach brought the jersey onto the ice for the celebration.

``We knew he was watching over us all tournament," said Young.

Classy move.

Yeah! Go Spits! I watched the last period of the final after the Wings game. Ellis and Hall are pretty impressive.

Two things:

One, I miss the old Spitfires logo.

Two, why aren't they affiliated with the Wings? I never got that.

One of them is of Joel Quenneville!!

You are right on that one! He was one of the stars of the past in Windsor. I'm not cheering for him right now, as his club is battling the Wings...but you have to admit the guy is a solid NHL coach.

The Spitfires are a Canadian Major Junior hockey team...they have no affiliation with professional clubs. They operate in the Ontario Hockey League, which is affiliated with the Canadian Hockey League. The league is not a minor league, but rather a junior hockey league.
