Wombat 26 Report post Posted May 28, 2009 I hope every national hockey analyst picks the Pens to win the series. I could care less. I've always said to friends that there is only 1 irreplaceable player on the Wings roster, and that is Lidstrom. His presence (or lack thereof) switches the series favorite in my mind. I hope he's back and ready to go for the entire finals!

RedLightGoesOn 81 Report post Posted May 28, 2009 (edited) wings fans are so ridiculous. if people don't bow down and worship the wings, you get mad. keith jones and engblom have nothing but good things to say about the wings. it sounds like jonesy likes Pitt in this series, but so what? the league does not center around you, despite the self-named hockeytown thing. You are right, the league revolves around Cindy. I am going to be using words like Dynasty, Winning, Defense, etc.... words you won't understand, but thats ok. That Self-named hockeytown thing? We earned it, through, I dunno, DYNASTY? WINNING a lot due in part because of our awesome DEFENSE? Jonesy says the Pens have experience, which is bulls***. They only thing they learned is how bad losing feels that first time. Just be happy that the Pens made it into the playoffs. The Capitals took you guys to Game 7, which I thought was unrealistic. Go ahead, cry about it. If any team right now, in all of 20 years of past played hockey, the Red Wings are the guys who can get it done when they get to the SCF. Right now, no pressure for the Wings. They beat them last year, and your team doesn't look that good as it did last year. Did you see the grim look on Cindy's face when they won this year? They knew they would face the one team that would use DEFENSE and bring utter hell to them. Oh, and we have Hossa too, a major performer for you last year. Bottom line: shut up, stop bitching, I'm guessing you became a hockey fan a couple years ago... coincidentally when Cindy was drafted. Be respectful if you want to talk with us. zackisonfire 16 Report post Posted May 28, 2009 you guys are making my point for me. in your world, people should worship the wings, but the league centers around its marquee star and YOU get upset. and the crybaby stuff is tired, old and rather uneducated if i might add. whether you call sidney a crybaby or not, he is the best player in the league and the league is piggy backing off him because he can save this dying sport in the U.S. even when the wings win, people don't care. people care if sidney wins. he is going to bring more people to follow the NHL, not zetterberg or datsyuk whom no one outside the NHL has even heard of. So you're crying about Wings fans thinking the sport revolves around them and you basically brag about the Penguins being the center of the league? Your logic fails, hard. And Crosby is not the best player in the league. Ovechkin, Malkin, Datsyuk, Franzen wanted me to tell you hello. You uneducated piece of Pittsburgh garbage. Your logic fails, hard. And Crosby is not the best player in the league. Ovechkin, Malkin, Datsyuk, Franzen wanted me to tell you hello. You uneducated piece of Pittsburgh garbage. I'm a huge Wings fan too, but come on, there is no way that Franzen is as good as Crosby. Just because we might dislike a player, it does not mean he sucks. Crosby is clearly one of the 5 best players in the world, no matter how much you may despise his whining/diving/cheapness/media exposure/anything else you dislike about him. Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted May 28, 2009 anyone else see hockey central after tonights game? with the first thing they were talking about it sounded like they were counting detroit out! anyone else think that? they kept saying how "experienced" the pens are and soo good... Well, when your Number 1 D-Man and number 1 forward are out, and the other team is healthy, and on top of that they have Crosby Malkin firing on all cylinders, I wouldn't fault anyone counting the Wings out. Raleigh,....RALEIGH? AHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH. I live in Raleigh you complete moron and that's the stupidest thing anyone has ever said on this forum and believe me there are some winners on here. Raleigh has more passionate fans,....oh my gosh,..sorry,..give me a minute here,...okay,....now i will commense with the smackdown. Raleigh is a hockey town like nearly every american city is a hockey town, IF there hockey team is better than the other teams in the area. Raleigh is a great place for hockey don't get me wrong, but when the canes suck the RBC center is a ghost town. I'm not going to call canes fans bandwagon fans because i respect that franchiese alot. But to compare them to teams like montreal and Toronto is moronic to a degree i can't fathom. The maple leafs for all the hell we give them, are sold out year after year, KNOWING full well the team isn't going to win a damn thing. Even your own fans don't need to be next to the habs and the leafs. When your team was in the toliet, no one cared,......ironically there are quite a few transplanted pens fans down here in Raleigh. When the pens wern't doing that great, but the steelers were poised to be champs again,..my gosh every die hard "pens fan" i know was telling me, "oh i'm a football fan." Now magically that the pens are in it, i'm hearing "oh i've followed this team since mario was the star." Well guess what sparky, you've followed this team since the day they drafted crosby i bet,.....most of the city of pittsburgh is the same way. The city of Detroit Michigan has had a love affair with this team that spans nearly a century. We have eleven cups,....4 since 97' forgive us if at times we appear bored. But when we do kick the crap out of your lover, and we will. 500k won't turn up for the parade. A city of millions will.

The NHL is the only league of any of the 4 or 5 major sports that focusses not on a league full of superstars with different roles and playing styles, but instead a single player on a single team. All its done is make the Penguins fans feel entitled, non-Penguins fans hate Sid and the Penguins and NHL marketing, and make the novice/bandwagon fans easier to spot. Here's a hint: sidthekid hadn't watched hockey until Crosby's shirtless magazine spread.

Red4wings4life 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2009 all the ticket sales in the world could not make up for bad ownership, poor business decisions and a terrible lease. just research a little. Serously both of you are right, both reasons are the reason they almost lost their team. After Mario left, the fans left, after Sid got drafted the fans came back. At Pens Fans Detroit is HockeyTown not only because of the Red Wings but because of all the Hockey leagues in this state, from little kids to pros and everything in between. I know this, I lived in Michigan my whole life, I grew up playing hockey in the Little Ceasers league. I started playing hockey at age 5. I now live in Colorado due to work but I still watch every Wings game I can. I still play hockey when I can. See what you do not understand is that Hockey is like a religion in Michigan. That is why we are Hockeytown. That is why we love our Wings. Hockey is in our blood. You guys may play little league football or baseball, we play HOCKEY. Seriously man.....you don't know what you are talking about. I've lived in Pitt before. You guys only like your teams when they are winning. I've been to PNC park for a Friday night baseball game....a quarter full park. I've been to Pens games a few years ago when they were not as good....not even half full arena. Yeah, we don't have a superstar like Ovechkin....our superstars know how to play on both ends of the ice. BTW...the BlackHawks would smoke the Capitals....since you find this important in your reasoning...they have three elite players vs. the Caps one. How can the "Hockeytown thing" be overrated??? Explain this to me. I think your just a bit jealous.
