The Toronto Maple Leafs will not bring Curtis Joseph back for the 2009-10 season, reports the Toronto Sun.

General manager Brian Burke told the newspaper the Maple Leafs will look for another option as their backup goaltender in the coming season.

“Great service as a Leaf,†Burke told the Sun on Monday. “But we are moving on.â€

Here comes J.S.

and half of the ANA D!

They will become the Toronto Ducks (as in style and players not name), which to tell you the truth the fans should and will love!

Maybe Cujo could come back to the Wings and be Ozzie's backup since Conklin will definitely be gone.

hell no. Conklin over Cujo any day of the week. Cujo and Conklin are both around 6-800k anyways. I wanna see Howard, and if he doesn't do well, then get Larsson, or anybody but Cujo.

i'd rather put cheli in net

Well yeah, of course I'd rather have Conklin, but there's no way the Wings will be able to keep him after this season. I thought maybe Cujo could be like another Ozzie or Hasek, but I think he's too old at this point.

A smart move by the Leafs. Always felt bad about how poorly Joseph's situation turned out here. He was blamed for a whole lot of things that weren't his fault.

Agreed, the guy didn't deserve 99% of the crap he got from us.

It'll be interesting to see if anyone gives him a shot...I kind of doubt it because he clearly looks done to me, but we'll see. I hope so, I've always liked the guy. But if not, congrats on a great career and best of luck with the voters in three years (could go either way with the HOF thing).

Leafs are definitely targeting Jonas Gustavsson as "Plan A" and apparently Martin Gerber is "Plan B".

Toskala gets $4 million this season, so there won't be any extravagant spending on goaltending.

Latest is that if Gustavsson is signed, Justin Pogge won't be.

If I'm a GM, I'd take Pogge as a #2 if my team's goaltending future looked s***ty. I may be in the minorty saying this in 2009, but I still think Justin Pogge > Jimmy Howard, leaving McCollum out of the equation.

Pogge has million dollar talent and a 10-cent brain. He's 6'3", he moves so well laterally, yet he can't put it all together.

There was lots of talk that he didn't take his AHL season seriously and felt he was entitled to time in the NHL (which he promptly blew).
