I'm calling injury also. He took some rough hits throughout the playoffs, and during the 1st round he looked fine. He wasn't getting on the scoresheet, but I remember his presence and I kept thinking he's going to break through eventually, and in game 4 he did. During the Anaheim series he started to play more slowly. I remember Hossa in his prime this year being in the same league as Datsyuk and Zetterberg with takeaways, and strong enough to keep people off the puck while maintaining control. He's been struggling in this regard, which is an indication of an injury moreso than him being lazy, IMO. If all I saw from him was slow skating, then I would think laziness, but his entire game is being affected.

I find real hard to believe that a guy would take a Bundle less cash to be our top scorer in the reg season to just Tank and not give a crap in the playoffs..... Wake Up!! and smell the CUP

Better be careful sir........logical and well-thought-out statements are rare in these parts.

I don't really understand all of the Hossa hate for the following reasons.

1. We are one win away from winning the Stanley Cup, the team has had an amazing season overall.

2. We won last year without Hossa, so what special magic is he supposed to bring...whether we have him or not we should be able to win.

3. I've never been up on Hossa from the beginning...nothing really against him or anything but I don't see (with our all-star caliber of a team) how he could possibly perform to everyone's expectations on the Wings. If we had already won the Cup (in a sweep for instance) people would have given him more credit.

I have been watching the games and have not thought all too much of Hossa on the whole and have commented that I didn't think he was worth all the money, and that I didn't particularly care if we kept him or not....however, the extreme anger towards him seems a bit unjustified. I was actually surprised to come on here and read this. He's had his moments where he's contributed. I don't think he's been great all of the time, but it seems a bit of a knee jerk reaction when the Wings are struggling a bit.

I agree with that too..........but 15 in 22 is hardly "useless" and "just along for the ride", a couple more "Hossaisms" that I've read on this forum in the past couple of days. You agree?

What does it matter if I agree or not?

Point is that the guy has been a big disappointment and has looked like an average NHL player as opposed to someone who has such a high salary and reputation.

People are right to call him out and you need to stop making this into some big contest between posters.

Wasn't Hossa the regular season leading scorer?

I am going to go with some type of lower body injury. I think he sucks it up and scores one on Friday and win the cup and silence all his critics.

Another voice of reason.......maybe it's contagious

This type of contagious .. I Like

I don't need some pinhead telling me what to post about.......you're just like the rest of the idiot hossa bashers, just single him out and ignore the shortcomings of others on the team who have might also have underachieved. If you're gonna be a whiny ass finger pointer, just treat everyone on the team with the same scrutiny you do Hossa.................unless it's a personal problem you have with him.

It's obvious that you have the maturity and temper of an 8 year old who does steroids, so this will be my last response to you on this topic. Have fun taking on the rest of the crowd.

LOL. I never thought I'd run into a poster that blames me for not being critical of more Wings players. That's a first.

I bet you through your hands up in disgust all 40 times this year he scored...

and kicked your self when he was scoring the 6 goals in the playoffs too...maybe throw stuff at the TV when Hossa did something right? I doubt it.

I wouldn't respond anymore either if I were you, since instead of answering questions you choose to throw out more insipid allegations. As for my maturity and temper, you've done nothing intellectually to gain any insight into either.

It's just that it's illogical to call hossa worthless and be so angry when there are other players besides Hossa that are thoroughly underachieving.

I mean, it's illogical to call Hossa worthless even if everyone else was having career-best playoffs. He has made his contributions and is anything but worthless. Maybe not as much as he or anyone else would like, but he has made them.

He's more important to us than anyone else who's currently underachieving.

Homer and Hudler have been worthless, and Kronwall has been subpar, but they're not superstar players nor do they get paid as such. Nor are they playing against their former team.

Quick question:

If Hossa scores some kind of important goal in game 7..will all this be forgiven?

In my opinion, he has nothing to be forgiven for. I mean why aren't we on Hudler's ass for making that mistake that lead to Pitt's first goal last night. Why aren't we bitchen at Cleary for missing a break away goal? Yeah Cleary has been playing a ton better than Hossa but everyone on here seems to call for a head when someone screws up.

I don't think Hossa has anything to be sorry for. He is probably injured.

Now assuming Hossa isn't injured, he is just lazy. Send his ass to free-agency!

My chief thought was datsyuk.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm not getting on Hossa's or Datsyuk's back about their play, obviously there is way more to hockey than just goals and assists. Just being on the ice is contributing. You think the penguins are thinking "lets match outr 4th line against hossa, he isn't going to score anyway"? No, Hossa just being on the ice is a threat. It's just that the people getting on Hossa's back are so stats orientating that it's odd they're so mad at Hossa for not scroing, but ignore datsyuks poor production. Datsyuk had played roughly 75% of the games Hossa has, yet only has 16% (roughly) of his goals. And Datsyuk's only goal was a deflection from Hossa's shot.

Should we be disappointed in Hossa, yes, absolutely, but some people make it seem like Kopecky would do a better job. When in reality, Hossa is still doing a better job than 50% of the team.

Stuart has ovearachieved. Lebda has been pretty good. Ozzie has easily outplayed his regular season performance.

Ericsson and Sammy have played better than what anyone expected.

Zetterberg and Cleary have also been better than they were in the regular season.

Enough overachievers for you?
