Guest micah Report post Posted June 25, 2009 Mixed emotions on this one. On one hand, Feds was one of my favorite Wings ever - he had an ability to take over the game that none have had since. On the other hand, he is lazy and he sometimes sucks. Meh, I guess I don't care. I'm happy for him that he'll be playing with his brother, and that he'll be back in his home country. I am thankful for the years I got to watch him.
egroen 384 Report post Posted June 25, 2009 (edited) I'm still rather surprised by this. He was still a valuable member of a Capitals team that was improving by leaps and bounds. Well, I guess he finally gets to be the star of his own team! .... could still be a negotiating tactic. Edited June 25, 2009 by egroen
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted June 25, 2009 This should be in the rumor mill. It's no different from the May 25th stuff about Fedorov going to Magnitogorsk. There is no actual source saying he signed, merely a source saying he is believed to have signed and what he is believed to have signed for. That's a huge difference, and what makes the difference between something posted in GD and something posted in RM.

VladyIBELIEVE16 257 Report post Posted June 25, 2009 Perhaps in looking back he will wish he hadn't ended up leaving the Wings. His career has been average at best since leaving Detroit. It's just proof that our team makes every player look a lot better and play a lot better. He always wanted to be #1 in Detroit... and he had the chance to do it everywhere he's been since the Wings and hasn't done it. I love feds when he was a wing and I cheered for him on the Caps this year (and last). Good Luck Feds!
Happy Pancake 6 Report post Posted June 25, 2009 He always wanted to be #1 in Detroit... and he had the chance to do it everywhere he's been since the Wings and hasn't done it. This sums up his career nicely. Too bad he didn't stick around longer in DC. Have fun tearing up the KHL.

LeftWinger 5,152 Report post Posted June 25, 2009 Hmmmmm, does that officially take him out of the number retirement game? Too bad, Fedorov will always be a Red Wing, no matter where he plays! I guess this also dispells the rumor that he isn't in it for the money! I guess he wanted the $3.8 million over winning anther Cup! Honestly I think the rumors two years ago that had him pretty much being traded back to Detroit, and NOT actually getting traded, killed him. In all the interviews that season, Fedorov was perky, talking about how he would welcome a trade back to Detroit, like he was getting his NHL life back. Too bad Columbus f&cked him by asking for the moon from Holland, then shippinh him off to Washington for pennies. Sure, this could've have been Washington's year coming up, but I believe his heart was set on coming home, and when they didn't bring him back, then when teh Wings signed Hossa and had no cap space to sign him, he lost all interest in the NHL... Good luck Sergei! You will always be one of the best players to EVER where the Winged Wheel! Oh, and thanks for introducing us to Anna Kournikova!
Winged_Wheeler 3 Report post Posted June 26, 2009 So when are they going to retire his number? Don't say he hasn't done a lot for the Wings because he has. I haven't seen a player wear 91 in the Red Wings since Fedorov, what gives?
soultrain 43 Report post Posted June 26, 2009 props to him for the $6 millon...good for him to play with his brother!....if dino ciccerelli can't get into the hall of fame...nobody who finishes their career in a overseas league (not talking minors) should be in the hall either. i don't think it looks good for the nhl. any thoughts haters? Guest micah Report post Posted June 26, 2009 I guess this also dispells the rumor that he isn't in it for the money! I guess he wanted the $3.8 million over winning anther Cup! Or perhaps he valued his family (playing with his brother) or a return to his homeland more than the Cup. Like I've said before, hockey has never seemed like a big priority for Feds, and that makes me like him more than most people do.
wingslionstigers 12 Report post Posted June 28, 2009 I would have loved for Feds to have came back to Detroit for this season and retire here. Althugh i understand where hes coming from. If i was him i would have to go back home and play for my home crowds for my last couple seasons.
