Players who have left the red wings and watched their careers disappea

Ray Sheppard, Paul Yzerbart, Paul Coffey, Steve Duschene, etc. help me complete the list...

I figure we can add Glass Jaw and Hossa to that list as well...

Detroit has a solid system in place...that is why guys like Cleary, Samuelsson, etc. can step in and play out of their minds and then disappear after they leave town...like Sheppard, and Yzerbart, etc.

Don't forget about Fedorov.

And Paul Coffey was 90 when he left, wasn't he? His career was already over.

This thread is absurd.

What? Coffey was still good when he was traded, and I remember many Wings fans being not too pleased with Scotty after getting rid of him. Good thing it worked out.

Granted, he didn't do much after but neither did his teams.

Your absurd.

Coffey and Duchesne were on the downswing of their careers when they left here, what's that prove? And we traded Sheppard, it's not like he up and left when we wanted to keep him, and besides that he still had a pretty solid career after leaving. I don't get this.

Besides, Hossa's not suddenly going to suck next year. What kind of sour grapes is this?

Don't forget about Fedorov.

Primeau, Dandenault, Derveraux, Lapointe, and the biggest loser had to be Feds. He never lived up to potential in Anaheim and eventually Columbus.

haha unfortunately, there is no possible way to flop as bad as Krupp did for the Wings, and I wouldn't wish that on Hossa either way. Sucks he left for a rival, but thats that.

Forgot about Schneider... wah-wah. Anaheim, Atlanta, Montreal... where to next?

By the way, I don't know what the original poster was thinking, but I would say, whether the player was traded or left town, which former Wing has left or been traded and played out of his mind? Adam Oates... anyone else?

Fedorov more than anyone. Lapointe gets honorable mention. Hossa was great before and will be after. I wish him personal luck and a great professional career with Chicago, just not against the Wings.

He got dealt to the floundering Whalers and "he was good" is really relative. Coffey was on the tail end of a long career and even suggested that he'd retire if traded. Fans might not have been thrilled at the thought of losing Coffey, but the second Shanahan was introduced as a Wing in a game the night of the trade, they instantly forgot.

Ysebaert was flaky anyways, so I wouldn't say his career disappeared after he left. Keith Primeau cannot even be mentioned, he was just as good when he left for years, and his production went down as his career went on like most players. Dandy, Devereaux, those guys were never good and still performed as usual after they left. Coffey, Sheppard, and Duchesne, I defer to BRTD.

We could also come up with a very decent list of players who had even better careers when they left the Wings.

There's no reason to be vengeful about Hossa signing with the Hawks. He was a rental all along, this was emphasized time and time again, he didn't keep the Wings hanging.. there's NO reason to have ill feelings.

Yeah, I would say it's more like Primeau's career appeared once he left Detroit. He struggled immensely here to get going and always had the whole Jagr thing hanging over his head. Once dealt, he found some calm and became a steady leader and pretty descent player.
