kook_10 1,705 Report post Posted August 4, 2009 (edited) yeah, that will happen Babs doesn't like Americans. I could have liked Jeremy if he wasn't such an obnoxious ass. He reflects poorly on American hockey players despite his talent. Edited August 4, 2009 by kook_10
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted August 4, 2009 yeah, that will happen Babs doesn't like Americans. I could have liked Jeremy if he wasn't such an obnoxious ass. He gives Americans a bad name. Obnoxiousness gives Americans a bad name? What? Giving Americans a good name entails what? Waving the flag around and being a quiet and polite/boring nutjob? Last I recall, his character was, for years, part of the excitement during Hawks/All Star/International games. I kinda think Presidents/politicians of late give Americans a bad name, as well as many flag-waving, support-our-troops-support-ribbon Americans. Roenick was a decent player with character. Like, actual character not akin to real bigmouths like Sean Avery, who strangely gets a following for his antics.
Lovin Jiri Fischer 147 Report post Posted August 4, 2009 I feel bad for him that he never got to with the Cup. But he has no one to blame but himself and his teammates I guess.
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted August 4, 2009 I feel bad for him that he never got to with the Cup. But he has no one to blame but himself and his teammates I guess. Pretty unfortunate for guys like him or Linden, who play their career without a cup win. I wouldn't blame him, though, as much as the teams he played with, or in the case of losing the cup finals, who his team played against.

Guest Shoreline Report post Posted August 4, 2009 (edited) There was just no stopping those guys. Gotta feel bad for the Canucks, North Stars/Stars, and Hawks, who were all just way in over their heads around that time. i edited that to "He reflects poorly on American hockey players despite his talent." before you hit reply to tone it down. he gives American hockey players a bad name by being so whiny and playing the hockey race card. if the guy just put his head down and worked hard he would be revered. i'm not sure that he had more character than was a character, and thats the issue. I can see why his outspokenness might be a turn off to some. We're a lot alike in character in those regards (not much more otherwise), so I absolutely understand the effect it can have. This team is full of the type you mention. Put your head down, play the game, go home, come back and do it again. This is why the Red Wings are the most respectable NHL franchise, not just because they win, but they do it professionally. Nonetheless, while sometimes Jeremy has annoyed me with his antics, or done/said some stupid stuff against my team, I also remember he was a good player on the ice, entertaining, and just about a Wing, and instead opted for the Flyers. One of those teams won the cup the following year. Edited August 4, 2009 by Shoreline

Nev 1,085 Report post Posted August 4, 2009 Don't know why, but this in my #1 Roenick memory. I remember he gave a really great interview afterwards in one of his articulate lover of hockey moments as opposed to his loud-mouthed classless moron moments. I don't understand how supporting military service members would make American's look bad or be considered obnoxious. If that's the case guess I make the U.S. look bad by showing my support, sorry fellow Americans!

Not obnoxious, but "giving Americans a bad name", of blind and dull-headed servitude and popular meme's like support ribbons as a political statement. Highly embarrassing. wingnut03 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2009 hmm.. I'm a little surprised there was no interest from Kenny Holland here.. Kind of seems like Roenick could've been a good fit here. Veteran presence who brings some scoring and energy, who's also hungry for a cup. Even though he was quite outspoken, I always thought he usually wanted the best for the game. Kinda sad to see him go.

Highly embarrassing. We should also call the parents of Bowe Bergdahl and let them know their towns ribbon tying is embarrassing and it should be stopped. After all he is just some dull-headed servant of the U.S. who has a slim chance of ever making it home based off how prisoners were treated by the Taliban in the past. I'll have to give my mom a call and tell her she shouldn't have put that ribbon magnet on her car because it gives the country a bad name. Thinking back, man that really was stupid of her to show support for her two sons deployed to Iraq...
MadMan Mark 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2009 He did say he would only go back to SJ. . . and considering the fact that SJ is almost capped out wiht only 18 players signed and no backup goalie, he had to figure he wasn't going to be getting any kind of decent offer. . . or maybe SJ told him there would be no offer. . . welcome to Cap Hell, Sharks. Way to keep Marleau and Thornton and re-signing an aging Blake. Sounds like a recipe for another 1st Round Exit!

Way to keep Marleau and Thornton and re-signing an aging Blake. Sounds like a recipe for another 1st Round Exit! 1st round exit...beat me to it. all last season i got dirty looks at the sharks games for yelling bad s*** at marleau and cheech...all the san jo fans thought last year was it (myself...i wasn't totally sold but i thought they would make a big splash) this season i will hold up a sign during pregame warm ups that lists all of the cap hit waste and gross over payments.not so the team see it (because they don't give a s***) but just so the sharks fans can understand that some of the players they "love" are (at best!) nothing better than glorified versions of marty lapointe...at best. Clowe- $3.6 something million! CAP HIT! thats Franzen money...sorry but clowe ain't motherf***ing johan franzen. Dan Boyle $6.6! (worth it?...for a cup win) Cheech $3 mill! what the s*** Marleau $6 milli somethin' and a no trade clause...i follow the sharks like i do the wings... last year the only thing that was gonna get them over that playoff choke (IMO) was Roenick!....Doug Wilson must be tripping balls...and not about J.R. TheDetroitRedWings 286 Report post Posted August 5, 2009 Never liked his personality. But the man could play some good hockey. I know a lot of people will remember him as a Blackhawk. But I will always remember him as a Coyote. I remember the Roenick/Tkachuk line giving our team fits. We actually had quite a little rivalry going with the Yotes in the late 90s. I actually miss those hideous old Yotes jerseys. They were so ugly I liked them. Very unique. I wish J.R. the best. He's probably going to the best damn sports show or something. lol
