FunkedUp 29 Report post Posted September 1, 2009 So we've had these threads about posting your dream team, top wings team, or top canadian and american teams, but I haven't seen anything regarding teams that you would hate to play against. Maybe this team completely annoys you or maybe it is full off hard hitting guys who would fight everyone in sight. I don't know, get creative... Anything will work... Heres my idea with active players (retired is cool too though) Ott-Crosby-Avery Tootoo-Malkin-Perry Cooke-Ribeiro-Simon Ruutu-Hartnell-Tucker Pronger-Chara Phaneuf-Niedermayer Weber-Souray Emery I would hate to play them... b.shanafan14 733 Report post Posted September 1, 2009 So.... is the exercise to pick the most domninant line combos, or the most irritating lines in hockey. Seems like you've done plenty more of the latter than the former, in which I would probably agree. But if it comes down more to a line you'd hate to play than a line you'd love to hate, thats a different thing entirely.
ComradeWasabi 109 Report post Posted September 1, 2009 As far as a competitive playing to win lineup goes, Getzlaf has to be in there. He doesn't bug me much but he's been the hardest for this team to contain by far.
FunkedUp 29 Report post Posted September 1, 2009 As far as a competitive playing to win lineup goes, Getzlaf has to be in there. He doesn't bug me much but he's been the hardest for this team to contain by far. Yeah, I agree. He has given the Wings a few headaches, and he really is an elite player in the game today. He doesn't really get much recognition playing in the market that he does, but his play doesn't go without notice by any means.
Esquire 324 Report post Posted September 1, 2009 The 2008-2009 Pittsburgh Penguins. I honestly don't see how Pens fans can get excited over this lineup outside of Crosby/Malkin. Seriously. I mean, maybe you can get on the Staal wagon as well, but that kid is rotting as a 3rd liner and you know he's not moving anywhere on that depth chart. mmamolo 287 Report post Posted September 1, 2009 Perry and Getzlaf would definitely be on my list. Getzlaf just has a way of crushing us all the time. It's like we can't stop him. Corey Perry is just a little *****. He hacks, he takes cheap shots, he whines, and is a mouthly little f*****. Worst part of all is he scores too.

Fun thread..mine would look something like this: Jordin Tootoo-Chris Kunitz-Sean Avery Steve Ott-Claude Lemieux-Alex Burrows Matt Cooke-Theoren Fleury-Patrick Kaleta Jarkko Ruutu-Scott Hartnell-Cal Clutterbuck Chris Pronger-Brooks Orpik Dion Phaneuf-Adam Foote Denis Gauthier-Francois Bauchemin Ron Hextall Just looking at that lineup makes me wanna say f*** it,and just take the instigator penalty anyway. Guest micah Report post Posted September 1, 2009 I think the 29 other teams in the league would include Zetterberg and Datsyuk in this category. Really? I'm no preofessional athelete - but I love playing against people who are better than I am. I hate playing against people who never shut their cocky mouths or who might suckpunch me when I'm not looking. I don't think Zetterburg or Datsyuk have caused many opponents to miss much sleep. gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted September 1, 2009 I kinda want Emery to fix his locker-room f***up habits and eventually replace Osgood in a few years. He can kill other players and fight. I'm cool with that. Plus, he can stop the puck. He gets his head straight and makes sure he only makes enemies of other teams and he would be one entertaining ******* goalie. I'm all about that. No lie. How can you not love this guy?! Look at that smile! He's having a riot out there! Old time hockey!

The Secret 304 Report post Posted September 1, 2009 Team Canada 2010! It might be the scariest team ever assembled.... hand picked by Stevie and lead by Coach Babcock. What almost any team wouldn't give to have a guy like Mike Richards among them...man. I'm not going to lie, I'm really, really jealous of Philly this year. That's going to be one fun team to watch if they don't hold back. And I'm totally not joking about wanting Emery to be a Wing. I want him to retire a Wing! I also want him to set a record for most fighting majors by a goalie in the process.

The common underlying quality of all the players mentioned in this thread is that there is some component of their game that makes it extremely frustrating to play against. Just ask Penguins fans who the last person they want to see across the faceoff circle from their precious Sidney. I'm sure they all see #40 in their nightmares, haunting their hockey aspirations. Another player I would include in this list is Peter Forsberg. The guy was a machine on both ends of the ice and got under your skin as well. Actually, I think he takes the crown of player you would hate to play against.

Why do you think that we all giggle a little to ourselves when we talk about the fact that Pronger was traded to Philly, then signed an extension? Because we wont have to deal with him nearly as much in the coming years. (until playoffs, perhaps.) Well as long as they win they don't have to think that their city is truly worthless without their sports. Pot, Meet Kettle. No offense, but many people (fans of other teams mostly) were saying that about Detroit 2 years ago. Just page through the threads during the 08 Playoff Run. titanium2 867 Report post Posted September 1, 2009 No offense, but many people (fans of other teams mostly) were saying that about Detroit 2 years ago. Just page through the threads during the 08 Playoff Run. Not really the same. What exactly is Pittsburgh famous for? Fried Zucchini Strips? Detroit more widely known around the world because of things like the auto industry (whether it's good or bad it still resides in Detroit) and other things like Motown music, even if it did move to LA, its fundamentals were born in Detroit. Sure today the outlook isn't so great but there is no way Detroit is as worthless as Pittsburgh. Not even close.
