CenterIce 83 Report post Posted September 11, 2009 Thing about their jersey is that all of them look the exact damn same That was my thought. When I saw it, I was thinking isn't that what they are wearing now. They just change the dominant color from black to orange to white.
kidish 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2009 The sweaters both Detriot and Chicago did up last season have been the best thus far.

The Mule 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2009 Slick. I've always loved the Flyers jerseys.
Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted September 11, 2009 WTH? Detroit's Winter Classic jersey looked nothing like the jersey they wear for all their other games. That looks 99% accurate to what the Flyers wear anyway. Lame, stupid, lazy. Someone fell asleep at the creative wheel on that one.
Jedi 1,865 Report post Posted September 11, 2009 Well, if you look at the history of the Flyers jerseys, they really don't have much that's drastically different then what their current jersey is now. Sure it's evolved and de-evolved and re-evolved the waist stripe, but not too much else has changed over the years. So it's not surprising that their WC jerseys aren't anything drastically different. But yeah, it's like the polar opposite of their thirds last year, down to the horrendous off-colored name plate. I give em a solid B. It'd be a solid A+ if the league would let them wear the Cooperalls.
Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted September 11, 2009 Instead of using a prior design, couldn't they have come up with a new one once they realized that hey......the uniforms haven't changed much? There has to be at least one person in Philadelphia who could have made a real snappy, interesting design for the WC jerseys.

shoe 165 Report post Posted September 12, 2009 The white looks very bright, id imagine with the big outdoor lights on the ice those jerseys might look blinding.
Cern 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2009 I like your thinking. I've been petitioning for years for the league to bring back the cooperalls on certain special occasions. Apparently they're a safety hazard so even as a one-off the insurance logistics would likely make it all but impossible. Which is a shame since they'd really help retrofy an otherwise static jersey history to draw upon.

I thought the league got rid of them because they weren't considered fashionable.
Cern 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2009 Why is it a safety hazard? I thought the league got rid of them because they weren't considered fashionable. http://www.thegoodpoint.com/hockey/may09/t...-cooperall.html As McKinna points out, a larger issue with Cooperalls was that they were very slippery and made falling more dangerous than usual. They simply provided less friction on the ice than the conventional equipment. Citing player safety, the NHL banned the use of full-length pants after the 1982-83 season. GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted September 12, 2009 http://www.thegoodpoint.com/hockey/may09/t...-cooperall.html I'm sure that with the advancements in equipment safety over time, any safety hazards could be taken care of.
FireCaptain 563 Report post Posted September 12, 2009 The jersey looks fine except for that HORRID black nameplate. What were they thinking?

Maybe, though how long did it take to get the EDGE system from conceptualization to NHL approval? No way they'd have anything ready in time for the Winter Classic.
