Rivalred 630 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 (edited) But the big question is who will finish the game? Osgood was hung out to dry by many breakdowns and turnovers. Did you even watch the game? Edited October 14, 2009 by Rivalred
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 Osgood was hung out to dry by man breakdowns and turnovers. Did you even watch the game? Yeah the defense sucked, but to say that Osgood was solid would be pushing it. Even with the lack of support a couple of those goals were laughable.

Many odd man rushes and Osgood has to watch opponents. The deflection off of Lidstrom's skate is a solid example.
Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 Nope. Just time to bench some of our crappy, overpaid players (Rafalski, Holmstrom). If you guys haven't started watching how bad Rafalski is for this team, start. This guy isn't worth 2 million a season, let alone 6. He's week in the corners, slow in transition, and a big ZERO in team leadership/inspiration. The guy has power play value, but his 5 on 5 effectiveness is in the minus category. I wish the Wings could unload him first. He's a waste of money. Yeah, but he, like most of the team can step up their play in the playoffs. I don't know if you can go so far as to say he has "ZERO" leadership qualities, because Babs includes him in the leadership corps. The team just needs to realize that no matter how much it sucks to have to play regular season hockey, they have to do it anyway. They don't get paid for the post-season, they get paid for getting there.

Osgood was hung out to dry by his terrible 5 hole coverage. I'd like to take his nut cup away, then maybe he'd cover that spot. Homer's solid play and team lead in goals got you looking for another target? lol Seriously though, a lot of people were questioning Rafi's worth last year, and he hasn't exatly been stellar. NTC though, and not likely in a hurry to leave his hometown. And honestly, no one would trade someone any better for him. I would like to see the defense lines shaken up. Kronwall and Stuart look alright, and Lids has been top notch, maybe new partners will get everyone looking good. Ericsson with Lids, Rafi with Kronwall, Lebda with Stuart. Yea, Maltby's role as a 4th line checker is just as important to the outcome of the game as the starting goaltender's role..... What a stupid comparison. He's weak in the corners, slow in transition, and a big ZERO in team leadership/inspiration. Rafalski will be worth the money. Just you wait and see! Please say you will be around to admit it when he turns it up and is awesome? As for being a zero in leadership and inspiration, not necessarily about Raffi, but that I have to agree about, including everyone on the team in that category. None of them seem to have any sort of focus this season, nor did they last season. They seem to coast from game to game, with no real interest in winning or losing. I am sure they don't feel that way, but the spark is missing. We need someone to inspire and admire, to light the fire. I don't see that person on the current roster. Nice work troll! ON topic, I can only hope the team can rally around this and the younger guys can fill this ice time. It's not totally unrealistic. Remember a few years back when half our lineup was the Griffins due to the injury bug? Matt even put a bandaid on the LGW logo.
Donaldjr2448 43 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 Hey, At least its early in the year!! Lets get the injuries out of the way early! If Franzen is out 4-6 months when does the roster have to be set for the playoffs? The reason I ask, if he is not ready or still on LTIR, maybe we should consider using his unused salary and pick up someone in November instead of waiting. Just a thought!! Vladifan 680 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 Same s*** as last year's playoffs. FIRE THE TEAM DOCTORS KENNY!!!! Or send May to beat the crap out of them. Short and sweet. Meanwhile, I still think Zetts is not completely healed and now with Datsyuk hurting, it looks like it could definitely take more timefor them to get back in sync. I am VERY happy to hear that Malts and Drapes will be back. Hopefully Lebda's had some time to think things over.

Lebda was dreadful at the beginning of last season and after being benched for a few games, came back and improved to be a plus player from, what, minus-22? Here's hoping he's used the time to focus on his game.
