Carman 387 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 Best save so far this year IMO. Although Guerin would score on that 99/100 times.
jollymania 162 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 Best save so far this year IMO. Although Guerin would score on that 99/100 times. the thing is he had enough on the puck to score here, but Ward somehow used all the strength in his arm to keep that out, this wasn't just your average shot into the glove. Guest Lidstromboli Report post Posted October 15, 2009 awesome save now if only someone would save carolina from hideous jerseys
T-Ruff 47 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 Those jerseys are great, much better than their usual reds... Unreal save, saw it live... too bad it was wasted by losing in a shootout anyway...
hooon 1,089 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 bummer they didnt win. Ward made 5 6 great saves in the shootout, but his team couldnt score the winner. Too bad. Was a good game, and what a save.
Carman 387 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 No team is going to contend with Pitt, it's naive to think anything else. They are by and far the team to beat in the east. 2 of the best players to play the game, plenty of depth, spectacular goaltending. And everyone is in their prime. Glad we won't have to compete with them until the Finals.
Free_Candy 38 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 (edited) Yes, it was a sick save and it made me sick. When Cam Ward is on, he is a pain in the ass to play against and he did amazing tonight. Did not think we'd get the 2 points when this went to shootout. Edited October 15, 2009 by Free_Candy

dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 (edited) Insane save, but I can't help but think it goes a little bit more into the "crazy miss" category. It's amazing that Ward gets the glove back there so fast though. I thought Lundqvist's save tonight was awesome too: http://www.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?hlg=200...amp;event=NYR62 Edited October 15, 2009 by dat's sick
under_par_00 45 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 Trade Howard + Meech for Ward. Osgood would make a nice backup for this guy. Throw in a 2nd round pick if you absolutely have to. Seriously though, that save was 50% luck.
ComradeWasabi 109 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 Reminds me of this one: Except, watching that Tokarski save and hearing Pierre McGuire just reminded me how much I did not miss him at all this off-season. Seriously, that guy needs to shut the hell up.
Seraph 240 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 Reminds me of that one save Lundqvist made with his pad in the playoffs a few years ago. Haha. It's awesome when they reach behind them to get the puck.
thegerkin 189 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 It's crazy too because Ward is still sliding to his right and he manages to reach against momentum to snag that point blank shot. What a beauty save!

Glad we won't have to compete with them until the Finals. A) Definitely not among the best players to play the game. Not even in the top 20. Neither is even a Hall of Famer yet, they're still kids. You have to sustain this level of play for years and years to be the best. Ask Bure. B) Fluerry isn't even among the top 10 goalies in the game right now. He's playing well right now. He's yet to put an impressive season together. But yeah, they're the best team in the league through the first 7 games of their season. Not even 10% of the way there yet guys... Pucks 66 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 The key to both the Ward and Lundqvist saves we positioning. Neither guy over challenged and gave the net away. They both gave themselves a chance to make a save, and that's exactly what they did.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 It looked like the puck was a bit in Guerin's feet, and it was all he could do to shovel it at the net, which is why it was so close to the far side (and towards the goalie) than towards the more empty near side. Nevertheless, tremendous effort on Ward's part to read the tic tac toe play, fall over and glove it.
