Sorry, Another Crosby Complaint

Have no fear Crosby haters, the NHL is already abundantly aware of the fact that Ovechkin is a vastly superior marketing tool than Crosby. You know, considering he actually has a personality and is far more likely to produce something highlight worthy on a game by game basis than Crosby (this isn't a comparison of skill, just of marketability). The second Ovie wins a cup, Crosby will be playing second fiddle for the rest of his career (barring a major Pens dynasty.. which I consider quite unlikely).

Now, if you hate both of them, you might as well just stop watching hockey... or start praying Kopitar becomes decipherable and the Kings begin winning cups.

Okay I just checked it out and based on how everyone is like "well it IS good" I was seriously expecting some badass save that demonstrates agility and awesome reflexes or something. I was even ready to acknowledge that Crosby seriously is elite and it doesn't surprise me that he is capable of such a feat. What I didn't expect was Crosby lying down a half second before the shot was let off and just lying there. Like others have said, Z and Lids have done this before, but what about last year in the playoffs against them? The defensman's name escapes me, but someone on the Pens' team bailed out Fleury unbelievably and kept the Wings from winning the Cup in the waning minutes of Game 6 (I believe). This save is getting more publicity than last year's Cup-saving one.

Anyway, with how far out of place Fleury was, find me an nhl player who won't sacrifice the body in a similar manner and I'll randomly pick one of 30 nhl coaches out of a hat that will tear that person a new ******* for not doing their job.

Scuderi got about a million extra on his new contract for that save in the finals.

This was not as impressive as Crosby's amazing stick exchange in the '08 Finals.

Great play by Sid. But Zetterberg has done this, Lidstrom has done this countless times. But Sid does it and there are like documentaries on it, like he just revolutionized the forward position, now centers will be taught the butterfly.

Did anyone say it was? I mean, personally, I don't like the guy. Thats my personal opinion. But I know its not his idea to make him the center of the hockey universe. Just another on the looooong list of flaws of the NHL/Bettman, but still another reason people hate Crosby.

Most of us aren't (and haven't been) taking issue with Crosby himself, at least when it comes to skill. I can easily admit he's a talented player and is capable of doing stuff most other players cannot. My issue is how we're being spoon-fed every little thing that he does, whether its warranted or otherwise. Not only does it rub a lot of fans the wrong way, but it also undermines many other players' abilities, such as Scuderi who did a similar feat in a much higher pressure situation in last year's finals. I tried looking for Scuderi's name in postgame reviews on a couple sites so I had a name to work with in my last post but I couldn't find one. Meanwhile, NHL.com has like 5 videos on Crosby lying across the crease, his history of playing goalie, his mentors at playing goalie, what his opinions are of the moment it happened, a play-by-play, etc. Can you honestly say that that play is worth all the hype that its getting? And if so, wouldn't you agree then that many other players who have done this in the past (it turns out this blocking shots in the crease thing isn't all that uncommon) should have similar publicity?

Crosby is a putz. The NHL is a joke. Inconsistent enforcement of rules, buying teams so it can sell it to the one it wants to own it, the instigator rule. Off topic a little, but does anyone know if: a) do referees calls/ decisions get reviewed? b) can they get fined or suspended after the game is over (like players) if they make s***ty calls? Didn't think so.

How can you respect that? And Crosby is a putz. Very good player, but a putz, none the less.

sounds to me like your issues are 100% with the NHL and 0% with Crosby.Every time I see an interview with Crosby he's always the same,mild mannered,down to earth and intelligent,not wondering why he's not getting more attention.

I don't like Sid because he's a diver and a whiner who expects special treatment (and gets it). He's supposed to be one of the 'faces' of the NHL and he's abusing it. I didn't like Forsberg for the same reasons... But Crosby has that attitude like he 'deserves' special treatment that really rubs me wrong.

I'd prefer that Crosby be removed from the face of NHL because he's an embarrassment to the sport. Ovechkin is a world class player with personality that represents the NHL the way it should be represented. Crosby is just a ******.

You'd think so. They've got a job to do just like anyone else. If I f***ed up at work, I'd sure as hell be hearing about it. You know what I'm sayin? Doesnt look like these clowns get any kind of repermand or anything.
