Jericho613 74 Report post Posted November 6, 2009 Don't forget about how he also commented on the spring boards at the Joe. I am so sick of the media and opposing teams using that as an excuse.

edicius 3,269 Report post Posted November 7, 2009 I'll gladly admit that we benefited from a slow whistle with Z's goal (and I was honestly surprised we didn't get hit with that "intent to blow" garbage), but for every ten times I've seen a play like that happen in a Wings game, nine of those ten times we seem to get screwed by it and not the other team. Guest Lidstromboli Report post Posted November 7, 2009 All teams get their fair share of good AND bad breaks during the course of a game or season. It all tends to even out at the end more/less. Not worth getting worked up about. this

Rivalred 630 Report post Posted November 7, 2009 I just heard the comments on NHL Live. The guy is a joke. He brings up games from when he played in Carolina before the lockout as proof that the Red Wings get calls their way. He also said the Zetterberg goal shouldn't have counted. Rage.... Do you remember the Sharks goal in regular season a few years back, the one where the puck hit the netting, slinged back onto the ice, and a Sharks player put it into the goal? LMAO @ Weekes

kozac 10 Report post Posted November 7, 2009 Oh, and my favorite part of Weekes' career was last year was when he was outplayed by Scott Clemmensen when Brodeur went down. Lolzenheimer! Yeah I remember that. At the beginning when Brodeur went down they were promoting Weekes heavily and empathizing the fact that he was black to try to attract all the black people from Newark to go to games. Needless to say none of that worked out like they wanted to.
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted November 7, 2009 (edited) We all know this. It' the fact that someone is calling out our team that's frustrating. Teams get called out plenty throughout a season. While I won't deny that we've witnessed seeing the Wings get hosed on calls in the past (Holmstrom phantom interferences, Hossa no goal call in the playoffs vs. Anaheim, etc.), it's not like we're the only ones who get hosed. We just notice them more because we are the Red Wings fans. We've also benefited from possibly iffy calls. Zetterberg's goal last game and the "net" goal versus San Jose last yaer (which ironically happened b/w the same team two seasons ago where San Jose scored a goal off a puck going into netting above the glass). Weekes may not be completley on the mark here buit this is silly stuff to lose sleep over. All teams are going to get good/bad calls throughout the course of a year. skyphoenix 153 Report post Posted November 7, 2009 I dont understand why any professional commentator (hes too bad to be considered a goalie first) would make such a dumb comment like that. Every team gets calls and every team gets calls against them, why this is even a discussion in a regular season game is beyond me. Get over being beaten by a better team years ago, Weekes. Jealousy is not a good color on you.
Rivalred 630 Report post Posted November 7, 2009 The Buffalo Sabres fans are still pissed off due to Hull's skate being in the crease and the goal counted... Based on the rules at the time, the goal should of not of counted.
Jaymister 71 Report post Posted November 7, 2009 Weeks is right about the goal, it shouldn't have counted. We got lucky, but then again I think we did deserve to win that game, we had more scoring chances, but just couldn't finish. So it all worked out at the end of the day. Do you remember the Sharks goal in regular season a few years back, the one where the puck hit the netting, slinged back onto the ice, and a Sharks player put it into the goal? LMAO @ Weekes Oh yeah! And didn't that happen twice! Wings scored on one and Sharks on the other. May have been different years though.

Broken 16 381 Report post Posted November 7, 2009 I'm going to avoid the Crosby cheapshot comment. I don't think the Red Wing's get the advantage in calls, although since we do control the play when we are on our "A" game it can certainly seem that way to opposing fans. That must have been rough. I applaud you on your self control. I'd have to disagree with Weeks. Wonder what he is basing it on... probably jealousy.
