The lines remain the same:

Bertuzzi-Datsyuk-Holmstrom

Leino-Zetterberg-Cleary

Draper-Helm-Eaves

May-Abdelkader-(Maltby and Miller rotating)

Lidstrom-Rafalski

Kronwall-Stuart

Ericsson-Lebda

Meech-Lilja

Howard (starting)

Even though he let in some soft goals against Anaheim, I'm beginning to get some more confidence in Howard's potential to be a solid back-up for us.

I think it's good for him to get these consecutive starts instead of just playing a game here and there.

As for the lines, there's no need to change anything.

I also wouldn't mind seeing Maltby get some more time. Remember when he was our leading scorer!?

I hadnt heard that new news about Lilja, but I reeaaaallly would love to have him back. Imagine if we got him and Franzen back at the same time around playoffs.

The lines are finally meshing, and Babs seems to be finally sticking with them. Howard has been good, but I'm still not sold on him. For some reason he always seems like he's way out of the net and lets rebounds just sit in front of him forever. He's getting the wins though and that's what counts, I like that he's getting all these starts and warming to the task.

Your new pic. Is that Z at the Palace of Auburn Hills? Where did you find that?

Yeah, I agree. I still don't think Howard has a future with this team. He's playing just good enough for now. Maybe he's just increasing his trade value. I hope he breaks out and turns into an all-star goalie, I'm just not getting too excited until I see him start to improve his rebounding, positioning and mental strength.

sounds good to me. J HO's sloppy winning style reminds me of hasek for some reason and its awesome. keep it up!

Yep, it's from the other day when Zetterberg, Lidstrom and a couple of other players were at the Pistons-Mavericks game.

You can find it here, along with a nice pic of him and Pavel at the game: http://www.reuters.com/search/pictures?blo...troit+red+wings

in my conspiracy mind im thinking they are parading howard out to show what he could so they can trade him.

we ALL know he isnt a long term solution.

I wouldn't say that. I'm probably one of the biggest "negative" people about Howard, but he can certainly be a long term solution. Goalies are very strange usually don't develop until 5-10 years pass. He has the ability and potential to become an outstanding goalie overnight.

Agreed. It's legally retarded to give up on a former blue-chip goaltending prospect after a dozen or so NHL starts. If every team did that 99% of the goalies in the league would've been dumped by their first teams.

I'm not saying this to bash Osgood as that's not what I do, but all things considered, I'm glad Howard's getting a chance early on to carry the team for awhile and win some games. The more he plays, the better in my mind if only to see if he'll be able to handle the backup role at the NHL level.

Yep. I've got plenty of questions about Howard going back awhile, but none the less, you've got to give the guy a legitimate shot to see what he can do in the NHL as a full-time guy. That's why I think this Osgood illness is good timing. I mean, we're winning games with Howard and plenty of other injuries. Say what you want about his play here and there (I'm fine with it and I've been impressed more than a few times) but it's good that we're still winning with Howard AND all the injuries. That's a real good sign that he'll at the very least pan out as a backup. Obviously it's still early, but I've really got no complaints at this point and still say keep giving him the opportunity to answer all of our questions. He's earned it so far.

There more serious matters to discuss in this thread: has Lilia been cleared to play?

Lets focus on this and leave the goalie "what-ever-ya-call-it" @ the door for a few...

No, he's nowhere near being cleared to play. He doesn't have headaches every day, but he still has them, and now he has an inner-ear issue. It's gonna be a long time until he's back.
