b-random 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2009 In tribute to our newly retired Shanny, this should bring a smile. Remember this? "No sax before a game" Makes you realize how much cooler hockey players were back in the day. The young guys now are all bland or nervous during interviews. ChelisChick 174 Report post Posted November 17, 2009 This news made me cry. I've missed him all season, and I hate that he had to leave the game this way. Love ya big guy! The night he signed my jersey.
paul19010 14 Report post Posted November 17, 2009 Shnnahan was the reason i became a wings fan in 2002. i used to be a Whalers fan, and stopped watching hockey when they moved. came back to hockey in 2002 and went with the team that had my all time fav player. the game 5 goal to seal it in 2002 against the canes is one of my all time sports moments ever. i'd retire the number, but im biased. Barrie 900 Report post Posted November 17, 2009 After seeing Yzerman, Hull, and Robitaille go into the Hall last week, I'm looking forward to Shanny's turn.
55fan 5,133 Report post Posted November 17, 2009 Brendan, I will miss you. I think we should get rid of Bettman and make Shanny the commissioner. In tribute to our newly retired Shanny, this should bring a smile. Remember this? "No sax before a game" I maintain that Shanny would be the best choice out there for the job. I'm campaigning even. FIBS 35 Report post Posted November 17, 2009 All hatred aside I just wanted to comment on Shanny's retirement. I dislike the red wings alot. That being said, I actually started oot as a red wing fan because when I was growing up, the red wings were team dominating the news with winning and so forth. And Brendan Shanahan was the main reason I started watching hockey. He and Stevie-Y. The way they played just really struck a chord with me and I've been following hockey ever since. Like I said, I dislike the red wings alot but I will always have a tremendous amount of respect for him. Thanks Shanny.

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted November 18, 2009 Sad news. Shanny was always 1b to Yzerman for me, and I was always open to the idea of him returning. s***ty way to go out, but one of the best power forwards to ever play the game. You will be missed Brendan. Vladifan 680 Report post Posted November 18, 2009 THANKS for all the stuff you put on here about Shanny, ET. I'm so sorry he ever left the Wings. But I'm hoping that someone in the NHL will be bright enough to hire him in some meaningful capacity. He would have so very much to offer. Hell, given enough time he might even shake things up. Bye, Shanny....for now...
