Holmstrom is more of a hinderance than Bertuzzi. Holmstrom did nothing tonight, absolutely nothing.

Holmström is a specialist and has never been a good skater or a puck handler or a passer. He's still been an important part of lines with two skilled players like Dats and Z. It's just a mystery how Bertuzzi's skills have just disappeared and he isn't much of a link between Dats and Holmer.

Rafalski also assisted on Detroit's lone goal.

Yes that was an amazing 2 feet pass to Zetterberg, who had to dig it out of his feet btw. I've always liked Rafalski but this season his passing game has been terrible, his defensive zone play has been less than stellar, and he has been weaker than usual on the point. Stuart, Kronner and Lidstrom have all been much better than him.

Homer could at least forecheck before, he is slower then ever. Now that he isn't getting lucky around the net he is literally contributing nothing but creating a PK situation for the Red Wing's when he is on the ice.

Bertuzzi is actually backchecking, winning battles on the forecheck, hitting, and playing at least respectable defensive hockey. Offensively he is atrocious, but playing without the puck he couldn't be doing much better.

They needed to bury some of those first period chances. Very frustrating when the team can't seem to finish some nights.

Bang on. We had some good chances from Eaves and Hank (off the top of my head) in the 1st. Yet, we only got a grand total of 1 goal out of the whole affair. The only back of the net they found for most of the game was the protective netting behind the goals.

*sigh*

You forgot to mention the fact that at least 75% of his shots have been wide this season.

Did someone just yell "f*** me"? Or am I thinking out loud?

Funny you should bring that up. I thought I heard it too.

Nuthin' funny about the OT though. Don't know where their heads were, but I can guess.

Is Clemmensem really that good??? or do we just suck at getting real shots?

He's that big, for one thing. But there were at least three shots on goal that he did not know where the puck was. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...........

Yeah, but in the grand scheme of how Datsyuk's optimal lines work Holmstrom's role is to be Holmstrom. Bertuzzi's role is to be the shooter/scorer. So far he's only succeeded at shooting, and even there he's shown bad decision making.

It's funny what the mics pick up sometimes. I seem to remember Malts dropping a big ol' F bomb in one of the Sweden games this year.

Thats all Malts says every game. There is a 75% chance you will see him drop an f-bomb when he is playing.

Datsyuk is pretty much worthless at even strength right now because he has absolutely no linemates. Bertuzzi and Holmstrom have both been pretty awful lately and you can tell Datsyuk is trying but just cannot get any help at all.

I just got back from the game, extremely disappointing to have that many chances and to not put it away. I can't believe Helm blew two separate breakaways, other than that he looked great out there as did Zetterberg. Ville Leino made me want to throw up my popcorn, he was awful. When Dats didn't bury that powerplay chance early in the 1st, I had an uneasy feeling the Wings would be in for a rough night <_<

Also, thats the 3rd time the Red Wings have lost a game where I put the wrong opposing starting netminder for the opposition in the GDT. Time to fix that. Anyone happen to know if Price or Halak will be in net tomorrow?

I don't get how Leino could look so bad you wanted to throw up your popcorn yet Zetterberg's line is by far the best line we have.

Don't get me wrong, Z was fantastic again tonight but Leino fumbled just about every pass he had and turned it over every time he had the puck. And other than playing physical, Bert wasn't anything special out there either.
