Homer has 12 points, is tied for the team lead in goals and is a +5. Bert has 9 points and is a -5 in the same number of games. Bert's playing on a line with Datsyuk. Homer may not be lighting the world on fire, but he carried the team early when nobody else was scoring.

Bertuzzi needs to finish.

I'm singling out Homer because I hold him to a higher standard. He has played most of the game with Zetterberg-Datsyuk, I just cannot find excuses for him. He has been struggling the past 6 games, and as one of our only proven goalscorers he needs to snap out of it and help carry this team right now. If he isn't scoring, he isn't doing anything else.

He started hot, but he's not right now. He's not talented enough to be a 40 goal guy, so he's not going to be scoring all the time. Whatever your expectations are of him, I think they're a tad too high, but he has contributed.

What a greasy s***show that was. Next game, switch up Homer and Bertuzzi with different lines, sit Leino and put Eaves back in and hopefully he has a fire lit under his ass (hopefully)

Bertuzzi is 4th in terms of foward hits on the team. He is laying the body, and making chances ableit he does make bad decisions with the puck and isn't playing well himself(but that happens when you have a 3rd liner playing trying to fill a role beyond his capabliities). Homer's role is much more important to the team than Bertuzzi is right now. Homer is playing with the 2 best players on the team and is not producing lately.

I believe this team is much better off if Holmstrom plays to his potential rather than if Bertuzzi plays to his. That's all I'm saying, obviously I'd hope both of them start playing better.

They're still only 6 points out of the division lead, miraculously it seems, although that is subject to change pending tonight's game. They haven't been doing their part to gain ground on them, though, but it's still early. Obviously they need to get their act together and start scoring or they might be in real trouble.

I don't know that I agree with this. The lack of scoring around the goal mouth is a concern, so yes, Homer is the forward who isn't converting in a lot of situations where the puck is loose in the crease. But the Wings also need a sniper, which is not what Homer has ever been, but something Bert has excelled at in the past. The Wings have other guys who can muck it up around the net and poke in rebounds, like Cleary. But they're very short of snipers. This is why Bert's shortcomings are so glaring.

But hey, I'm with you. I cheer for the team, not the player. Just put the puck in the net already, boys.
