WingzFan 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2009 No one is saying Datsyuk didn't help. But he wasn't as good as Zetterberg or Lidstrom. He doesn't raise his game to the levels of Zetterberg when they matter. At least not yet. 2007 - Ducks vs Wings, game six. Wings facing elimination.. Final three minutes, Datsyuk scores two goals to bring the Wings without one of tying and extending the series. Clutch not found. 2008 - Datsyuk finishes over a PPG in the playoffs but Zetterberg has four more points, epic choke. Never raised his game? Sure

WingzFan 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2009 No one is saying he isn't great. Just not as great as Zetterberg. Face it. What is Zetterberg great? Playing better over 24 games instead of 106? Based on sample size, Datsyuk is the superior player. Zetterberg "saves it" so he doesn't get injured.
Theophany 110 Report post Posted November 30, 2009 Lets discuss just how overrated and over paid Nicklas Lidstrom is. Yep, you're right; a player that just came off a season winning his sixth Norris doesn't deserve to renew his contract for two years at $7.45m a year. What were the Wings thinking, signing the best defenseman in the league to a two year deal?!
WingzFan 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2009 Yep, you're right; a player that just came off a season winning his sixth Norris doesn't deserve to renew his contract for two years at $7.45m a year. What were the Wings thinking, signing the best defenseman in the league to a two year deal?! Should have signed him for six. Best player in the history of the game. Kovalchuk? Ha, lets sign Lidstrom till hes 53.
Lidstrom for life 20 Report post Posted November 30, 2009 I am seriously really confused. You can call Holmstrom and Bertuzzi pylons and say that Z is having a bad year but people can't say anything negative about Datsyuk? I just really don't get it. People can say whatever they want but don't use one excuse for Zetterberg underperforming and discredit the same excuse in regards to Datsyuk.

WingzFan 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2009 Now you are just pulling crap out of your ass. How so? You're saying that Zetterberg is a better player in the playoffs because he "Turns it on". Yet Datsyuk is the superior player over the entire regular season and is very good in the playoffs when not injured. You're saying that an 82 game season means nothing in comparison to 24 games in the playoffs.

Shocking news would be something about him being involved in a prostitution ring or a South American drug cartel or even the Russian mob. You need to refine your definition of both "shocking" and "news".

You're saying that an 82 game season means nothing in comparison to 24 games in the playoffs. The truly elite players always find a second gear in the playoffs. Isn't that the whole point of playoff hockey? Zetterberg is the Red Wings best forward every playoff run. The importance of playing at a higher level during the playoffs is rather obvious, despite you somewhat having trouble grasping that point. Zetterberg works very hard the entire regular season and elevates his game at the most important time. To answer your question, I do find this more worthwhile than regular season achievements. How does a 100 point, Selke winner and MVP finalist raise his game any more for the playoffs? If anything, Zetterberg leaves something to be desired during the regular season. Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted November 30, 2009 Search Hulder, Jiri if you'd like those stories. What does that have to do with this? You called a thread "shocking news about Datsyuk" and then posted neither shocking nor news. I read through all 6 pages of this and have no farkin' clue what the hell this is supposed to be about. Who are we bashing? Who aren't we bashing enough? Why am I asking these questions?

stuck in socal 56 Report post Posted November 30, 2009 Datsyuk will pick up his producing no one worry. You can only shut down elite players for so long. I am more worried about the Red Wings Defense, but I'll save that for the Lebda bashoramics thread.

WingzFan 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2009 Well, if I follow the logic correctly, Franzen's play will be a result of Datsyuk. Apparently you haven't been a Red Wings fan long. Everyones play is a result of Yzerman being in the building and Lidstrom's leadership and Zetterberg's extra gear. Datsyuk is a lazy Russian, only in it for the money and is Charmin soft in the playoffs.
