Ovechkin Tossed Again

Second time in a week, I believe. Both Ovechkin and Tim Gleason -- I think it was Gleason -- hurt on the play.

The guy needs a long suspension. He's just flat out dirty at this point.

Come on. Like they're going to suspend the two time MVP of the league a long time. That's just silly.

This guy makes or breaks my fantasy team, either he scores 10 goals a week or gets injured/suspended.....i gotta get some other players haha

I didnt see the play anyone got a video? How bad was it?

Still looking for video ...

It was similar to Kronwall's injury, Gleason skated past him, he stuck the knee out and clipped him. Only difference was Ovechkin got the worst of it ... he couldn't put any weight on his leg going down the tunnel.

Yeah, it looked like Ovechkin was hurt worse than Gleason was....but it was pretty blatant.

Is there a precedent set on the Kronwall hit / suspension? If so....then follow that. Superstar or not.

Ovechkin needs to get sent a message, his reckless style is going to ruin his career. We can't afford to lose someone of his caliber to useless, and dirty plays like this. Come on Ovie you're better than that.

Karma came back to bite him in the ass because Ovie is injured.

Hope he is out for 2 months because of a torn ACL. Don't usually wish an injury on any player but when you do sh!t like this ... you deserve it.

He had a questionable knee on knee against Gonchar in the playoffs last year too.

Edit: I wonder what the suspension flow chart has to say about this one.

That was clean. His knee was not sticking out, it just made contact with Gonch's knee because the guy tried to get out of the way.

This one, not so much.

Thats why I said questionable. IMO though, it was dirty. Im pretty sure he got a minor penalty also.

Will be interesting to see what the league does here. If he doesn't get at least 5 games, it will be a bit of a joke. This was far worse than Laraque's. I can see the messaging now though.....not a repeat offender, therefore, not so much of a suspension.....of course, if they keep letting him get away with stuff, he won't be a repeat offender. It's not like Laraque has a history of dirty plays either. The NHL has a severe rep for rules for stars vs. rules for guys like Laraque. Timing of this is going to put them in a real bad spot for making them look foolish.

So, never thought about this, but if he is suspended for the next 5 games, but is also injured and can't play anyway for about 5 games, is he allowed to come back and play in the 6th game? I'm almost certain the answer is yes, but it doesn't quite seem fair.
