why did he stand up?

Wow Datsyuk really?

Also Big Rig will never be Fisher ever

To get back in position to make another save?

Jiri Fischer drafted 1st round, 25th pick.

Jonathan Ericsson 9th round, 291st pick, last player picked in the draft.

Was he really expected to become the next Fischer?

Yes of course, this is LGW, where every draft pick regardless of which round and number becomes a Crosby or Ovechkin as long as they don't play in the AHL for a little bit too long in that case they become Meech.

Nice goal by Homer. I like how the defenseman tried to knock him into Brodeur, then immediately started complaining when the puck went in.

This goal redeems some of Holmstrom's crappy play earlier in the game.

Brodeur also needs to stop whining for goalie interference calls every time the Wings are near him. This isn't basketball.

Ozzie's play has been embarrasing. He looks lost out there and is constantly out of positioning. He looks like some rookie who's afraid to face shots out there. No way New Jersey should have scored on that last routine scoring chance.

I don't think he looks lost out there. It's more like how I think you (or someone) summed it up earlier. He makes a huge save, the Wings are starting to get some momentum, then he lets in a total backbreaker.

I don't fault him much for the last one. He made a save, Ericsson was trying to grab it for some reason and it bounced right to Niedermayer. But he was inches from letting in another five hole goal in that period. It got between his legs, but he twisted them in time so the puck slid out wide instead of into the net.

Osgood should have had the second goal, but the defensive positioning has been poor on all three goals. The Wings just completely collapse in their own end. It used to be they'd maintain their spacing and then at the right moment converge on the puck. Now they just seem to converge on a faceoff dot.

Agreed. It's like watching Mite hockey. The puck goes somewhere, and everyone on the team follows it, not looking to see who they should be covering.

Whats so frustrating is that without these awful defensive breakdowns (Homer not picking up the late man. Guys generally missing coverage) and/or not letting in these soft goals, the Wings would be right there or beating this good NJ team.

They're not that far away from being good, even with all the injuries. But they're not playing a system as a team.
