Top 10 Goon moments of the past decade

It's interesting that they list the two reasons why they put Bertuzzi at #1. I personally think Bert just had bad luck. Someone had to go after Moore after he broke Naslund's bones on a cheapshot. Granted, Bert's was a cheapshot too, but so was McCarty on Lemieux, but we all praise it because he didn't end Lemieux's career.

After watching lots of clips of Bert hitting Moore it appears that he knocks Moore out with one punch, which is amazing to me because it didn't look like that hard of a punch, but I guess when you aren't ready for it...though he should have been because Bert had been trying to fight him all game.

And that was a pretty dirty play by May.

First things first. Scott Stevens could have his own top 10 ugly incidents article, so he should not be casting stones from the penalty box or anywhere else for that matter.

2nd, This should have at least got honorable mention. I love watching this clip!

the issue I think I have with the list is more about the results of what happened versus the action itself. Like Bertuzzi just wanted to smack steve moore around and I think the guy got badly hurt from falling down on the ice and having all the players on top of him, Obviously Todd deserved the punishiment and it was a really bad thing to do, but I think trying to stomp someone with a skate is waaay worse or slashing someone across the face with a stick like a bat...

Yeah, I've seen the Bertuzzi hit before, but watching it now, it just doesn't look THAT bad. I mean, that's a pretty huge fluke to do that much damage on a hit like that. It's cheap, and unsportsmanlike for sure. Suspension worthy yes, but it's not like Bertuzzi TRIED to end his career.

As if Bertuzzi is number one on this list.

1. Steve Moore is a *****.

2. Moore's teammates piling on both of them is likely what ACTUALLY broke his neck

3. It wasnt that goonish, more goonish than someone STOMPING on another player with a skate or HITTING them IN THE HEAD with a STICK

4. Steve Moore is still a sissy who would obviously rather file suits and blah blah and get rich that way because he completely ******* SUCKS at hockey.

:ranting:

Yeah I remember checking the box score after that game. I can't remember how many total penalty minutes were in that game but is was an insane amount.

Bertuzzi's assault of Steve Moore is the most goonish moment in recent memory.

He chased Moore around for an entire shift trying to fight him. Moore responded to a challenge to fight earlier in the game regarding the Naslund hit, for those of you goon-lovers who feel that if lay a dirty hit that you should man up and fight the opposing player. Moore did that. Bertuzzi simply couldn't let go. He followed Moore around, often grabbing his jersey and 'waterskiing' on Moore.

Bertuzzi grabbed Moore by the shoulder at the base of the neck with his left hand, punched him in the side of the head with his right and drove him facefirst into the ice with his right. Moore was unconscious from the punch, so he couldn't respond or resist what came after. What broke Moore's neck was having his head driven into the ice by Bertuzzi with his right hand while his left hand was holding his neck, not the pile-on that ensued.

No one can say for certain when that happened in particular, I don't think, but to me it's a non-issue anyways. Bertuzzi created the situation where Moore was endangered like that entirely on his own and deserves 100% of the blame.

I love this, now that Bertuzzi is a Wing, everybody sees that incident from a completely different angle. You all sound like Canucks fans back in 2004. Nice 180 LGW!

Actually, in my case this isnt accurate. You sound like a woody woodpecker, you know, an aggitator.

This is absolutely off topic but this reminded me of an old Habs/Nordiques game I just watched on DVD. 198 PIM during the game. They even called a guy for an illegal stick!

Adams Divsion Final, Game 6, April 20th, 1984.
