Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 So... this team's top 20 scorers are shown below, in order of points: 1. Zettergerg 2. Datsyuk 3. Holmstrom 4. Cleary 5. Kronwall 6. Bertuzzi 7. Rafalski 8. Draper 9. Lidstrom 10. Ericsson 11. Eaves 12. Helm 13. Williams 14. Filppula 15. Stuart 16. Maltby 17. Lebda 18. Abdelkader 19. Leino 20. Franzen Injured players are shown in bold. Let's separate it out into healthy Forwards and Defense: Forwards: 1. Zettergerg 2. Datsyuk 3. Holmstrom 4. Bertuzzi 5. Draper 6. Eaves 7. Helm 8. Maltby 9. Abdelkader 10. Leino 11. Miller 12. May Ouch. So, for the record, Draper and Eaves are members of the healthy top 6. Yikes. Defense: 1. Rafalski 2. Lidstrom 3. Ericsson 4. Stuart 5. Lebda 6. Meech As far as the 2nd PP unit goes they should probably use Ericsson as a forward. During some points 07-08 Ericsson played on the PP as a forward for Grand Rapids. Remember that he's a converted forward. When he was playing on the PP as a forward for GR he played the role of net front screener/tipper guy. Given that Cleary's that guy on the second unit I guess it makes sense to throw Ericsson in there. Right now Ericsson's the only healthy, talented offensive player who isn't on the PP so I guess he's the logical replacement for Cleary on the 2nd PP. The other option is to put Ericsson with Stuart on the 2nd PP defense and move Meech to a forward position where he can roam around in the slot and take slappers. Actually, I like this idea better anyway-- Meech has been pretty bad at holding the line on the PP anyway. Plus, let's be honest, right now Ericsson really needs the confidence boost. His offensive production went from being tops on the d-core to 4th and the big difference I see out there is that he doesn't look confident out there. Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 Good thing we have our AHLers Abdelkader, May and Miller to fill in...oh wait they are full-time Wings now. We might as well just leave Jimmy in the net and teach Osgood to skate. I think he would be a pretty good forward with some practice. May and Miller are definitely NHLers at this point. Abdelkader, however, should be down in GR getting 20+ mins a night as their 1st line centre. I'm worried about how this early push into the NHL will affect his offensive confidence. Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 You have such a weak grasp on reality. You're probably one of the ones who thought leino would have a 50 point season. Easy there champ. Your beloved Filppula had a 5g 10a 15pt rookie season. Leino's on pace for a 9g 6a 15pt season. No one should be giving up on Leino yet-- he's played a whopping 27 games. titanium2 867 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 Well... Abby and Leino played well together in GR. I'm going to focus on that and pray for the best.
Johnny Law 15 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 Well... Abby and Leino played well together in GR. I'm going to focus on that and pray for the best. I think I'll go with this approach too, way better than the drinking Draino way though its getting harder everyday to be even slightly optimistic.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 So who's out alltogether? Its getting hard to keep track of everyone. Franzen Filppula Williams Cleary Kronwall Lilja Geez we seriously have more than an entire line that wouldn't normally be playing that's suiting up each night. And those players are among our best ones right now, so we might just be screwed when they get sent down to clear space for returning injured players. HOpefully Flip can have a better season and Franzen can return to form.
Lonewuhf 47 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 This might mean something if it wasn't coming from someone who thinks Flip is a better than average player... He is a better than average player.... Did you miss the first part of the season? He was, as Babcock said many times, one of the better players on the ice every night.
titanium2 867 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 It only says that the Wings won't call anyone up at least through the weekend. The Griffins play Fri, Sat and Sun. I still think Ritola might get a chance for a call up. At this point, they could really use a player like him.

Vladifan 680 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 Well if you still are looking for a way to see the game, this thread might help: http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=61751 Thanks, Drumj. I really appreciate your making these available here and I saw the play where Jackman took out Cleary. Ya know, it's really waaay past time for somebody -ANYbody - to return the favor and finish out that Karma Thing. He is SO due to be taken down.
Theophany 110 Report post Posted December 11, 2009 Somewhere in the press box, Ville Leino was chuckling and rubbing his hands together at a chance to get back on the ice. Either way, I think this bodes ill for our season, though I think we still have a shot.

Just saying he was MUCH better last season than this one. I'm well aware he had a 13 game call-up last year. And I'm aware that he was a point per game player in the preseason. That wasn't my point. My point was that he's 27 games into his rookie season and people are already ready to push him under the bus.

Woah, I have no idea where this is coming from. My point is that it's dumb to think that any player in GR would be better than Leino. I was defending him more than anything. As for Flip, can't we just all accept that he's going to be the savior of this franchise and we're going to go on the all-elusive 10 game wining streak once he returns? But in all seriousness gcom (everyone understood I was joking about the savoir thing, right? ), you're the ONLY one who think Flip is just an average player. And all I'm saying, is that Filppula and Zetterberg have the same points per minute on the PP. And that's all I'm saying. And Datsyuk too. And double Cleary's. But that's all I'm saying. He is lying down in front of it himself IMO. alot of people had high hopes for this kid and he was exciting to watch in his call up. now....not so much. He's getting more time and not really showing he deserves it... But under the circumstances... I guess there really isnt a lot that can be done..

Nightfall 871 Report post Posted December 11, 2009 If ever a team had all the cards stacked against it, it has to be this years' Detroit Red Wings. If/when they pull through and make the postseason, it proves more than most realize. I agree 100%. The Red Wings only need to get a ticket to the big dance. Then anything can happen. They will be getting healthy by February. Right now they are only 2 points out of a playoff spot. I know the Red Wings are going to make playoffs this season. I also know that the Red Wings are going to have a good playoff run because they will be healthy by playoff time.
