Although he has solidified his spot with the Griffins this season, Tatar will be leaving the team from mid-December to early January to play with Team Slovakia at the World Junior Championship in Saskatchewan, marking the second straight year he has earned the privilege to represent his country at the tournament. Proud to represent his native land, Tatar is looking forward to the tournament without the pressure he faced last year.

It was announced in yesterday's Griffins broadcast that it was Tatar's last game with the Griffins until January.

The kid has had 7 goals and 8 assists in his past 14 games.

I was at the Marlies/Grifs game last night and Tatar looked great - fun to watch. I'm looking forward to next year and I hope he can impress the staff in training camp. No reason to bury this kid in the AHL.. his maturity level is a lot higher than most rookies due to his experience in the elite league.

Going to be exciting in the world juniors though.

Yes. Last night was Tatar's last game in Grand Rapids until January when he returns from the WJC. He's probably traveling to the Slovak WJ training camp now. On other note about last night-- Tatar had 1g 2a 3pts. Right now the stats sheet has him credited with only 1g 1a, but that's because the Marlies scorekeeper made an error and recorded the primary assist as being from "17" (Pare) instead of "27" (Tatar). The people I watched the game with saw the same thing as me-- there's no way he shouldn't get that assist given how clear it was that he passed the puck to the scorer. I emailed someone that works on the AHL website to see if they picked that up and whether it will be fixed. From what I've heard from other fans it's always something they get around to fixing.

Did he play for Slovakia last year? And good luck to the kid.

Yes he did. He looked really good in the tournament last year, I remember watching him. I was shocked when he went so late in the draft, and really glad the Wings got him. Look for him to have an even bigger tournament this year. He has probably learned so much in the past year.

Well with the way the injuries are piling up, it may not be long until we see him up in the NHL with the Wings. :yowza:

Haha. I hope you are sarcastic, because Tatar is nowhere near ready for the NHL. After a couple years in the AHL, and 20 pounds of muscle, he will be ready.

If im correct Tatar put up 7 goals in the WJC last time around.... and I believe two guys by the names of Filatov and Tavares put up 8... I'd consider that good company....

[/quoMy god ther juniors last year was great. I usuallyt don't follow much outside of team Canada, being a Canadian myself, but outside of Tavares, I noticed me a whole lot of Tatar. I'd say he will be the top player in the tourney this year, and I really do think he will see his first NHL action next season at some point. Can't see him being anything but the real deal. Hell, I couls see him putting up 15 goals in a season in the NHL right now, playing with the right folks.

I'll call it now. He'll score a goal in 20% of his games once he hits the NHL. Don't think I'll have to eat crow on that either. :)

Do you own Tatar Inc. stock or something, ACG? I mean, I don't think that assist is going to make or break his career.

And 15 of those points in the last 14 games (7G, 8A).

Ya, In that article on AHL.com about Tatar's transition, he mentioned that it was a bit hectic for him at the beginning of the season. He had to sort out his living arrangements and everything. He said now that he has an apartment, and a car, he can focus only on hockey. He has been a point per game player since getting settled. I really hope he can keep it up the whole year. If he does, we really have something special in him.

Yes he did along with 4 assists but that Slovak team finished high because of their goaltender Jaroslav Janus more then because of Tatar. Watching Tatar was a treatthough.
