Expect Hawks To Bring Their "A" Game

After the game today Larry was talking about the Hawks. I agree with Larry when he said expect Black Hawks to bring their "A" game - best of the season - against us, because with Wings depleted line up, this is the best opportunity for the Hawks to (try) to take advantage... considering how we're still only lingering a few points back on them. Hawks are going to want to reinforce the lead against us because they know once Detroit gets some players back, we're going to start gaining (and probably surpass them) in the standings. So that makes these next 2 games even more important for the Hawks.

So expect Hawks to bring their best game against Detroit's $33 million dollar roster (Griffins AHL Hockey). I was hoping Black Hawks would take us for granted, but we all know they need these wins as much as we do, due to how tight the standings are between us. We play them 5 more times this season and Wings (should be somewhat healthy) by the last few games where we can take some more points from them.

That said, I'm starting to think that it may not be the BlackHawks to be as concerned about, Preds seem to be the hottest team in our division right now, and could easily sneak by to take 1st place while Hawks / Wings beat the s*** out of each other. Glad we just recently beat the Preds. Now lets beat those Hawks. I think we can still beat them despite our $33 million dollar roster and depleted line up. Wings are the best organization in the league, and we're showing everyone why; we're still kicking ass. -- I smell a Chicago upset, btw - They're quickly going to learn what Red Wings hockey really is; gutsy, resilient, determination, hard working guys despite having only a $33 mil roster :D

Go Wings Griffins!

It is always amusing to see how excited opponents are about "beating" a team as decimated by injuries as the Wings are right now. As if they've actually beaten the actual Wings? <_<

Too bad a loss will look the same in the standings, despite reality. I have faith these guys will pull out all the stops tomorrow. If they lose, it won't be because they didn't do their best.

I believe they will win, BTW!

Expect both Hossa and Kopecky to score against us, like all former Red Wings seem to do.

Honestly we shouldn't be able to win against them right now. We have a 2nd line of Leino-Abdelkader-Eaves. But if we can steal one of the games I'm happy.

Hawks really got everything going for them for tomorrows game

- Wings heavily depleated lineup with 8regulars gone to injuries

- Wings will be playing on the 2nd straight night while hawks are well rested

- It's at chicago and they are a very good home team.

- Hawks are currently one of 3 teams in the west that could be considered power houses atm.

I hope Huet brings his F game and gives up the worst goals imaginable to our minor league lineup.

Also, I hope our heavies will play dirty if the game gets out of hand on the scoreboard. The Hawks only enforcer right now is their PP. Sound familiar? ;)

It's classic, the one year the Wings consistently have an enforcer at least 3-4 teams in the league now have the PP enforcer. The ironic part is our PP is so pitiful as an enforcer these days it's like Kopecky facing off with Boogaard.

How true.

Speaking of Kopecky, it sucks to have Lilja injured right now, because I'd love to see him feed Kopecky his lunch sometimes. I guess I'll just have to wait.

You heard it here first:

Kopecky instigates a fight with Draper after Kopy scores a goal, destroying him in he process - broken cheekbone

Hossa hits two goal posts, but puts Datsyuk out with a borderline hit - concussion

Osgood gives up 2 softies, and then Jimmy Howard pulls a groin when Campbell runs him over (and then calls JIMMY gutless)

Wings win in overtime 14-3

The game is 2 points like every other game. Nothing more.

This is not a measuring stick, a statement game, or any other sensationalized tag. It's 2 points towards making the playoffs which is all this team should care about and all it should be billed as.

Detroit beat Chicago with a healthy lineup 2-1 already.

The fact that Detroit is missing 8 players makes this almost a cake-walk for the Hawks.

On paper we should win, but to be honest Detroit is surprising me with how well they are playing despite all the injuries. They have been pretty impressive.

I think Chicago wins, but I dont think it will be an easy win. Detroit still has our number, so we need to do something to change that. This isnt going to be any kinda statement game because Detroit is to banged up, but a win against Detroit is still a win against Detroit.

I think we had injuries back then. Franzen and Helm come to mind. I think Zetterberg was nursing a nagging groin if my memory serves me correctly.

I would like a win, but under the circumstances if we can keep this game close I'll take it. On a sidenote, I liked how Datsyuk, Bert and Homer played yesterday. Hopefully their play carries over because we will need them to be great if we have a chance at winning! :).

I think it's cool how even with our depleted roster and 1/2 full (1/2 empty for the other half of you) home arena, that we can still provide sellouts when we are on the road. Haters can say what they want but when is the last time an arena sold out because the Coyotes (plug in your own team) were in town?

Grand Rapids Griffins / Hawks game sell out in Chicago? I'm okay with that. Glad to see our AHL team help generate some revenue.
