TSN's Top 10 NHL Plays of the Decade

That list was pretty lame IMO. How can you have that stupid Ovechkin goal at #3 but not have the Franzen superman goal on there at all. And Nash's goal shouldn't have been that high on the list. Maybe I'm biased though.

Great video.

The only ones I disagree with are a couple of the goaltender highlights. flopping around in the crease and randomly hitting the puck with your stick and blocker isn't a play of the decade to me. That and I'd never consider a shootout goal a great play because it doesn't take place during an actual hockey game.

Come on guys, this is TSN.

This is the channel that shows the replay of any canadian team 6 times before showing the Red Wing highlights.

Nash's goal was one that bugs me. Dats has made that play a hundred times, going through 4 people and scoring, and he does two and gets huge credit.

I'm a little surprised that Malkin's signature goal on Brodeur didn't make the list.

I completely forgot about this play, that has got to be the only time that the "Forsberg" move has been successfully executed in a game situation. That definitely belongs on the list, I would bump the Theodore highlight in favor of the Malkin goal.

Also, the order was completely wrong, no way a shootout goal should be ahead of any of the in-game moves they chose, and I would have the Ovechkin vs. Price goal much lower, sure it was a nice move to lose the defender, but he basically plowed his way through the goalie and somehow the puck managed to cross the line before the net came off, not even as impressive as the Nash play, which should not have been as high. But, as someone else said, this was compiled by TSN, and they have their preferences.

I love that vid if Nick. That just shows you how aware he is and how he's such a fricking pro.

I don't see hoiw the aforementioned Franzen goal didn't make it and neither did this. And you know, Dom's poke Czech on Gaborik didn't make it either. Anyway, this goal, he's in the air when he shoots the puck. Not fall and then shoot, not shoot and then fall. Shooting while falling. That man is a beast!

This Forsberg move? (this game situation lol?)

Man, I agree with all those plays you guys are posting. That Franzen superman-goal is one of the most underrated goals in recent years.. didn't see it on any Goal Of The Year lists last season.

It's obviously hard to pick just 10 plays from an entire decade.. it's hard enough to pick 10 goals. My biggest gripe with TSN's list is that they have two Ovechkin goals. Should have only had the one against Phoenix on there.

Well since this is turning into something of a Wings top-10 of the decade, how about these

Flip against the Pens

Zetterberg against Phoenix

There was also a goal Datsuk scored, I'm pretty sure it was his rookie season. We were down something like 4-0 or 4-1 and stormed back to tie it in the 3rd on an end to end rush by Pavel. It was the first time I went "whoa, this kid can really play". Can't find it on youtube though <_< Think it might have been against the Canucks.

<<< "Call the cops, he robbed Delmore blind" ...Biron learned from this guy. :hehe:

Datsyuk will go into the records books as one of the most creative and crafty players in the history of the NHL. You knew there was something special about him even as a rookie, and he's just gotten better and better.

does anyone have that one of Z doing his spin from last playoffs I think? Where is did a no-look spin and backhand goal. That would be on my list. To be fair, so would 1 or 2 of Sid's.

There ought to be some of Homer's mid-air redirections, too. There was one in the 2002 playoffs that just beat Roy like a rented mule, scored while Homer was horizontal, and falling to the ice. Only his stick blade was on the ice. Wish I had a picture of that one.

This goal was SO amazing!! I remember when VS was going the "I am..." for their playoff promo, for the Wings they had this goal with the voice over "I am the top seed, and proving it." I thought it was so cool. :hehe:

It was indeed against the Canucks, and it was in his rookie season. I'm pretty sure I have it on a DVD and will try to find and post it.

There was also a superb goal Datsyuk set up in his rookie season, when he went behind the net, passed the puck to himself off the bottom of the net and then fed Hull for an easy one-timer. Boyd Devereaux, who was the third member of the line, said he was laughing even before the goal went in because he couldn't believe anyone could make that play.
