Zetterberg & Cleary will play vs LA!

Howard is right about at the #7 goaltender mark in the entire NHL. Do you really want to start Osgood, who may or may not have a solid first game back over a goalie that's playing as well as Howard?

Also, my thought reading about Z/Cleary a few hours ago:

"THANK GOD."

How long do you think this question should be a logical one? Till the Olympic break? Till the playoffs? Sooner or later they must work Ozzie in. And sooner is almost always better. He.has.got.to.get.his.playing.time.in.so.he.will.be.ready.for.whatever.big.push.

is.coming. Period.

Great news. But I will be scared everytime either of them gets any physical contact that they'll bust their shoulder up again. Hope they're 100%.

Also, in the situation the Wings are in right now they can't afford to be nice and respectful to Ozzie. The starting job is Howard's to lose, atleast for the moment.

I think they already have given them more than enough time, especially zetterberg, he just had a slightly separated shoulder which usually is only 2weeks, he has been out since dec 17th so like an extra week or so.

I don't see playing Ozzie soon as being "nice and respectful". I see it as the right, balanced, logical response to what's coming up for the Detroit Red Wings in this season. If Howard gets injured or falters, how could it not be good for the team if Oz is physically and mentally ready to play? More than he could possibly be right now?

Am I crazy for wanting to see Leino in over Abs?

Well Abdelkader has been a great grinder for us lately, many hits and what not.

I can also see some good in wanting Leino too. When he played with Z he actually did great and gave Z some good scoring chances.

Honestly, I did not mean to make this into the 4,000th Ozzie/Howard thread. So I will not bring this up again here or respond to anything that's thrown out there on this same subject. Hopefully, that'll end it on this thread. This is happy news about Zetts and Cleary and that's where we should focus. Sorry... :(

It'll be logical until Howard isn't the 7th best goalie in the NHL. I realize that Osgood has turned it on in the playoffs before (and repeatedly), but he's not a required tool to win in the post-season.

Howard has been playing exceptionally well (best goalie in the NHL by dollar amount paid, probably by FAR), and until he starts playing poorly, I see no reason at all that Osgood should start unless Howard needs a break.

That includes the playoffs.

I assume ritola will be sent down and I think leino needs some company in the press box in the form of maltby.

here to hoping the lines look something like this:

Zetts/dats/homer

cleary/fil/bert

eaves/helm/drapes

may/abs/miller

cheers :beerbuddy:

Pav and Bert won't be separated...

Lines will be...

Homer-Pav-Bert

Cleary-Z-Eaves

Draper-Filppula-Miller

Abby-Helm-Maltby

That's what I'm thinking, but Bab's could be a trickster...

Just in time for Datsyuk and Bertuzzi to go down!

LOL, but that's not funny. :(

As for the lines I wonder if Babs will put Bert with Z and Cleary and Keep Filppula with Datsyuk. He seems to like to run with lines when they produce so who knows.

Bert and Datsyuk were split up last night. And I guarantee he won't put Filppula on the third line at least until Franzen is back (if at all).

That's not what the article said. I think it'll be the same as it was in practice.

Zetterberg will be reunited on a line with Pavel Datsyuk, to help his transition. Forward Mattias Ritola was reassigned to Grand Rapids (AHL). Ville Leino and Brad May will be the healthy scratches.

Here are the lines they skated with Wednesday at the Honda Center:

Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom

Bertuzzi-Filppula-Cleary (Leino working in)

Draper-Helm-Eaves (May working in)

Miller-Abdelkader-Maltby (Ritola working in)

Lidstrom-Rafalski

Meech-Stuart

Lebda-Janik

Ericsson-Lilja (injured)

Howard (starting)

Osgood
