I live in NY and only get to see the Wings so often. Against the Rangers they were terrible and only the Rangers being equally as awful prevented a loss there. This was a terrible loss and there are no excuses for such an abysmal effort regardless of injuries. Seeing it up close was godawful.

That being said this team is too good to play like this for long.

yea I went to the devils game and at least the wings scored 3 goals there and then Rangers game i was contemplating about going watched it on tv and it was boring as hell like you said both teams were awful.. you would think sucky team like isles would be a sure thing. just awful lol

It comes down to that this team doesn't have "it" anymore... The magic is gone, there are underperforming "star" players and grinders who work but dont have skills....You're suppose to be excited about a pp, and i think it's reasonable to demand a 25% success rate on it, lately it's been under 5%, nothing is happening, the team feels dead.

Add to this that they take nights off once in a while for whatever reason(?) and it's NO FUN at all...It's just silly to bring up the injuries anymore because as we just witnessed they also suck with players coming back....

Is it a MAJOR issue deep within the team or can you call it pure lazyness...Osgood syndrome?

if they dont make the playoffs and lidstrom DOESNT retire...do they dare make him give up the C?

You're high.

edit: As if the all mighty Z would be an improvement at this point

The turning point of that game was really at the end of the 1st when the Wings went on the powerplay. They were down 2-0 and had they scored on it I think the game would have been completely different.

Instead, they lost the puck on their first rush and then there was an extremely weak interference call against Datsyuk to negate the PP.

To be honest, it's not just this season.

This is how the Wings ALWAYS are. They put next to no effort in against weak teams, and play well against strong teams.

The difference is, in the past, next to no effort still was enough.

I do agree with this for sure. It is a misconception by non-Wing fans that since the central div. was so week before that it was a a gimme for us. We had more friggin' trouble with the central division teams then I think any other in the league regardless of how good we were.

C'mon... they had an excellent road trip. They beat everyone they needed to beat. Let's not overreact and start worrying about a losing streak just because they flew across the country after a west coast string and lost to an upstart Islanders team. Yes they needed the win, but they surely aren't going to win out.

Don't misinterpret my meaning. I'm not worried or upset at all. I'm saying I'm not worrying if we don't put a huge win streak together. We've done a good job just avoiding a major losing streak and I'd be more than happy to keep that up as it'll get us into the playoffs.

Excellent road trip?

We played poorly in LA, Anaheim and New York. We played well in Phoenix and San Jose.

Two good games out of five is not excellent, especially when you have to make up points. I feel like they took a few games off in this road trip, and that's unacceptable for a team full of veterans that is trying to make a playoff push.

They should thank Howard for that LA game, or else you wouldn't be using words like "excellent" to describe the road trip. This loss last night put a sting on everything else that happened.

Whatever, Chicken Little...

Yea. If they can continue to beat conference teams and pull 6 out of every possible 10 points, I think we will be just fine. If they were gonna have a stinker game, I'm glad it came against the Islanders.

Nice thought out response to my post.

I expected no less.

Responding to anyone that claims that the Wings are "headed in the wrong direction" is pretty much an utter waste of time. It's easier to make fun of doomcryers than it is to try and reason with them. Carry on.

Yeah no doubt. I would love for Detroit to win 6 out of every 10 games for the rest of the season. They would finish with 114 points with 54 wins. I hope we continue to suck this bad! :D

People are crying because we lost 2 road games out of 10. Lol. Only on LGWs.

we have to win games we are suppose to win,we cant be losing games against teams were suppose to beat, if we lose to carolina on thursday we are in trouble. How are we suppose to beat the good teams when we cant beat the bottom feeders

That argument would make sense if Detroit didn't beat any good teams.

Nothing changes here. It's been like this as long as I've come here. This team has more issues than we've had with scoring, but that's mostly due to more issues with injuries than we've ever had. I'm honestly thrilled with how well this seasons going so far. I'd say it's more of a success than the last few years all things considered. We've got all the injuries in the world and every other team in the league is better yet we're still putting up points. I think this team is a sleeping giant at this point. Can't wait for the playoffs!

We beat Colorado, LA and, most importantly, we owned San Jose. We lost to Anaheim and The Islanders. Neither is a bottom feeder team. Anaheim always plays us tough and are better than their record indicates and the Islanders are in the playoff hunt. Granted, the definition of a bottom feeder team will vary from person to person, but I don't consider either of those teams to be bottom feeders.

We didn't deserve to beat L.A and Colorado has been struggling lately ,We did play great against San jose But against Anaheim and the Islanders we didn't show up at all anaheim does play good against us but we didnt really put up a fight that night .And as for the Islanders they are a team we should have beat but we left our legs in det

The games we win that we don't deserve to win are usually evened out by games we lose that we didn't deserve to lose. I wouldn't get hung up on that garbage if I were you. Bottom line is, we won 6 out of a possible 10 points. That's good.

I understand six out of ten points are good But with the western conference being so tight we need to be better in the future. we are not showing enough passion in these games and it can turn around to bite us in the ass.

Yup...

So could not getting Osgood into enough games

So could letting Hudler go to the KHL

So could letting Sammy go

Etc.

Etc.

It's a re-tooling year and they lead the league in man games lost (I think). I'm happy and thoroughly enjoying this season so far.

I think you're in denial and afraid to admit anything that doesn't make you sound like a complete homer.

We got severely outplayed 3 of the 5 games on this road trip, including an absolutely pathetic loss last night. Our superstar players take nights off and frequently look invisible out there.

On top of that, we've had all these s***ty injuries this season plaguing us.

The team is headed in the wrong direction. You're either the biggest homer here, or you just hate my posts so much that you're letting it cloud your judgment. I didn't say anything that was wrong or wasn't backed up. I leave that up to you.

I think Carolina want's Taylor Hall more than they want to win a game against us. Jm2c.

Has it ever occured to you that maybe you're a little too fragile to follow a team that isn't dominating almost every night? Don't blame me because I lower my expectations to match reality. Jimmy spoke and I listened. Sue me.
