dobbles 252 Report post Posted January 12, 2010 Tampa's Blair Jones clears waivers; Calgary puts Staffan Kronwall on waivers. http://twitter.com/TSNBobMcKenzie (sorry for giving folks a heart attack with the title, i couldn't help myself!)

Theophany 110 Report post Posted January 12, 2010 Yeah, probably a bad title for a thread here, when you're talking about STAFFAN Kronwall.
dobbles 252 Report post Posted January 12, 2010 think he would be worth picking up? is he an upgrade on ledba/meech/janik?
Guest mindfly Report post Posted January 12, 2010 think he would be worth picking up? is he an upgrade on ledba/meech/janik? I'd say 75% of the nhl teams 5&6th D-men is an upgrade over them...
Theophany 110 Report post Posted January 12, 2010 think he would be worth picking up? is he an upgrade on ledba/meech/janik? No. Nick got all of the hockey talent in that family, obviously.

king_malice 17 Report post Posted January 12, 2010 steffan would be a better fit for the wings he is a tougher d-man takes the body more then lebda wings have enough offensive d-men lidstrom rafalski meech the could use a little more muscle i think hes worth it
Miller Brew 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2010 You'd think having brothers together on the same team would spark a friendly competition. Especially for for the one on waivers.
GROwl 5 Report post Posted January 12, 2010 Seen this guy for years playing against Grand Rapids when he was with the Marlies. He's actually much bigger than Nick and plays pretty physical. Would be a good pick up for the Wings.

Datsyerberger 279 Report post Posted January 12, 2010 Oh jeez, pick him up, please. The sort of large, physical d-man we need, NHL #6 quality, another swede, brother to one of our big guys. I'm not usually one to come out and say 'git 'r' done' with things like these, but man, for his salary and the worst repercussion being having to waive someone like Lebda, this is worth it. Hockeytown_Ryan 122 Report post Posted January 12, 2010 Why Not The D line of Kronner and Kronner ? 54 and 55 or 55 and 56 heh.. Id do it. maybe playing with brother Nick will keep him off the waiver line. Way better than Lebda and Id like to give him a shot.....
cjm502 165 Report post Posted January 12, 2010 I think Staffan and E would be an awesome 3rd pairing. Both are pretty versatile, and are pretty physical. Heck, we could even ditch Lebda or Meech, or BOTH.
55fan 5,133 Report post Posted January 12, 2010 In most Babcock interviews I have seen, he refers to Nik as "Junior" so as not to mix him up with Nick. If we were to get a Junior Kronwall, what would he call him? Seriously, Staffan has been waived so many times that I forget what team he's on. As much as we want to ditch Lebda and/or Meech, adding Staffan would only push Janik towards waivers as the team would not likely put both Meech and Lebda on waivers to keep room for Janik and the Lesser Kronwall. Not to mention that it would suck for Staffan. Both my sisters have PhD's and I work in a sewer pipe factory. I know what it's like to be in the company of greater siblings. People have unrealistic expectations of you. It would be fun to have Kron and Kronner, but that's where the upside ends.
Marty Barry 230 Report post Posted January 12, 2010 No. Nick got all of the hockey talent in that family, obviously. A la Sergei and Fedor.

Better than "It's been lonesome on the saddle since my horse died"? Or, to keep it on topic, "Two Kronners and a Corona". Pucks 66 Report post Posted January 12, 2010 I haven't watched him play much, but last time I saw him play I was surprised how good his first pass was. I heard he was more defensive than nick, but he was making smart nice plays. Maybe he's not able to do that all the time,? I'd welcome a bigger stay at home guy that can make a good first pass. Anyone know what his salary is off hand?

Lamothe 5 Report post Posted January 12, 2010 You'd think having brothers together on the same team would spark a friendly competition. Especially for for the one on waivers. Agreed. Steffan isn't nearly as skilled as Nik, but... Hey, I wouldn't complain having them both.

kook_10 1,705 Report post Posted January 13, 2010 I saw him play with Abbotsford against Chicago a couple months ago. He seems to have relatively good sense, but his skating leaves a lot to be desired.
