dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted January 18, 2010 I see Kings and Wings getting 2-3 points each from their two games during the week, and then it will obviously come down to who wins Saturday. Will be a big game. Can the Wings do it? Yes. But the important thing is we keep up with them.

haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted January 18, 2010 I guess it'd feel a little better than being on the outside, but honestly I don't care so much about LA specifically as much as just racking up points wherever they can. LA, Calgary, Vancouver, and the Avs are all within 4 points of Detroit, and Nashville and Phoenix are only 5 points away. They need to climb up higher than the 8th spot near the end of the season so it doesn't come down to a shootout or a bad call.
Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted January 18, 2010 All we need is one win and the next three teams in front of us to lose their next game and we can shoot all the way up to fifth. By weeks end we can have the 5th spot good and snug if we win the next three.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted January 18, 2010 I know people are upset that the teams above us are winning, but those teams have played better than us this season, hence they're higher in the standings. It sucks but it's only fair. Those teams are beating the East every night, while we're getting our asses kicked by the New York Islanders. The Wings need to go on one of their patented 9 game winning streaks.
Guest mindfly Report post Posted January 18, 2010 I asked Oscar Moller if he could lose some game so detroit could climb into 8th.. I hope he listen
Donaldjr2448 43 Report post Posted January 18, 2010 If we play like we did today, we will have no problem passing the Kings,Canucks,Flames, Coyotes, and Predators. We play like we did against the Islanders, we will be golfing in April.
Paul MacLean's Mustache 44 Report post Posted January 18, 2010 Absolute brutal schedule until the olympic break. 13 games left for the Wings and 10 of those teams are currently in playoff positions. I'll be at the Wings/Caps game Tuesday. I just hope they show up to that one -- I absolutely despise that HORRENDOUS goal horn at the Verizon Center.

TheOwl 77 Report post Posted January 18, 2010 Calgary just lost to Anaheim, in regulation! Ugh, I was happy when I saw that too. Then I realized, my second and only other favorite team is Calgary. And Anaheim is catching up. Personally I want Anaheim to make the play-offs (as long as we do). Anaheim could be a huge problem for San Jose or Chicago and any team from the NW. Wouldn't it be awesome if Anaheim and Detroit were the 7th and 8th seeds? I'd love to see those smug Chicago fans watch their draft-handed team lose in the first round. I'll be at the Wings/Caps game Tuesday. I just hope they show up to that one -- I absolutely despise that HORRENDOUS goal horn at the Verizon Center. I'll be there too ... I hate everything about Caps games. The EXTRA LOUD MUSIC!!, the scoreboard telling the fans when to cheer, the fans that yell and scream but don't know the rules, etc. It's like an NBA game had sex with an NHL game and the result was a horrible sports experience. ltgator333 3 Report post Posted January 18, 2010 Next 3 games are going to be huge, with the finale against the team they're hoping to knock out. If the wings can get 2 points in the next 2 games (I predict LA will lose to either San Jose or Boston, quite possible they lose to both) then beat LA @ home Saturday, they'll pass LA. That's do-able for the RW.

XxGoWingsxX 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2010 Honestly, The wings are playing better hockey lately. Not perfect but better. Give the guys fresh back from injury time to gel and make chemistry. Give us some time to get guys like kronwall and franzen back. Give us a 2 week olympic break with a team fired up and healthy...wanting to make that playoff spot. Give me 20 or so games to go on a hot streak and surprise everyone all of a sudden a-la pens last year. Give me that cup come early july. I'm surprisingly optimistic about the remainder of the season.

Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted January 18, 2010 They have been on the verge of getting into that 8th slot a thousand times this season but can never seem to win that one game that will put them over the top. Oh well, doesn't have to be today -- as long as it happens by April.
XxGoWingsxX 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2010 Me too. Good post my friend. Thank ya kind sir. Good to see someone else who's not all doom and gloom about the season. I realize it's hard to be optimistic this year but they are my wings. I'm die hard til the end, and I'll always believe in them.

I realize it's hard to be optimistic this year but they are my wings. I'm die hard til the end, and I'll always believe in them. Hope is a dangerous thing to lose. Lose it and you lose everything. I feel Wings are just starting to play better and they will get some more guys back into the fold soon. There's absolutely no reason to panic with over 30 games remaining. Remember the Blues last year?
