Stu in Israel 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2010 The Gordie Howe Hat Trick is in honour of him because he scored and fought. He was tough and talented. People from Denmark (generally) aren't round pastries with fruit in the middle, but no one gets confused if we use the word "Danish" in reference to either. We all know what a Gordie is. It's part of the vernacular, regardless of its origin. Everyone scores a Gordie tonight, including both goalies. Unfortunately, this results in a lot of penalties, so the Wings win 21-20, with the final goal scored by Bertuzzi in the 95th round of the shootout. LGW! A "lame" response to a complete fabrication! Gordie Howe is immortalized by his name in the NHL record books and by the statue of him inside the lobby of the stadium, and continuing this fabrication demeans a man who placed scoring far above fighting. He didn't "score and fight," he RARELY fought. Reread the article I appended to my posting. It's part of the "vernacular?' It's a falsified piece of vernacular and for that reason should be stopped. SDavis35 140 Report post Posted January 24, 2010 Howard has allowed 3 goals in his last 3 starts, I'm gonna say it's time to test Ozzie for a few and begin this rotation thing. If we're sticking Osgood in for playoffs, now is probably a good idea.

Pucks 66 Report post Posted January 24, 2010 (edited) Ericsson and Lebda, the nightmare of pairings. Those two play absolutely wretched together. Please play simple, use your body and don't handle the puck like it's a grenade. I know Maltby and Draper were calling Helm and Abby dumb and dumber earlier this year, but that title belongs to Ericsson and Lebda. It really does. Yeesh! It's beyond frustrating that Bertuzzi is the most dangerous guy on his line. Really? 13 million between Datsyuk and Zetterberg so they can backcheck? Get it together please. lars1970 1 Report post Posted January 24, 2010 You haven't seen the last four games. Detroit has played like this (and given up the lead) in all of those games. This isn't simply a knee-jerk reaction. Detroit is playing terribly and letting the opposition take the game for themselves. Well, I knew the Wings have been having trouble holding leads, but I guess I didn't realize it was the last four games in a row. I think my comment was pointed to the "doom and gloom" posts I read in the middle part of the GDT. Again, I am not trying to rub salt in your wounds. I don't do that on other team's sites. Nothing pisses me off more than opposing fans talking s*** on LetsGoKings.com after we lose. Which in the past 8 years has been a lot!

Guest EZBAKETHAGANGSTA Report post Posted January 24, 2010 That wasn't crazy when he made the statement. Leino was considered a top 3 Calder candidate coming into the season. His first 13 NHL games resulted in 5g and 4a. He was a ppg player in the preseason with only Datsyuk outscoring him over that period. Expectations for his rookie season were sky high. Of course it sounds crazy to say that now but I expected Leino to get around 40pts and certainly expected more than 15 goals. Right now he's still on pace to close on Filppula's 15pt rookie campaign. Edit: Waita go and partially retract your comment after I back ya up Gcom. Just Ignore him, he misconstrues peoples points to argue agaisnt something no one was arguing about in the first place. If you want to send a message to Pav and Hank, without changing the lineup, or doing something drastic: Take away their Assistant Captain status. Pin the A on someone like Helm, Cleary, or Stuart for awhile. They'll get the message loud and clear. 1. There are no Sacred Cows, and 2. Step it the f*** up. Give Helm and Filppula/Stuart/Bertuzzi (seriously) the A's for a few game.

Jericho613 74 Report post Posted January 24, 2010 If the Red Wings blow leads like this when they are completely healthy, they don't deserve to make the playoffs. I love the Wings to death but this is just ridiculous.

Ya... sure would be nice to get a few more points out of them. No argument there. Who knows... maybe we're seeing one of the potential downsides to handing out life long contracts. lars1970 1 Report post Posted January 24, 2010 You're obviously a fan of hockey as well as being a Kings' fan. You're welcome here any time. You got class, bubba! Thanks. I have been on this site for 7 years now. I am just one of those rare people who are So Cal natives who love hockey. All hockey. I grew up a Kings fan, and really got hooked when Gretzky played here. Since the Ducks dropped, "Mighty" and got rid of those awful jerseys and awful ownership, I began rooting for them too. My dad is from Denver and I went to school in Colorado so I am a huge DU fan. I originally signed up for this site when the Kings were playing the Wings in the playoffs way back when. Sorry to say I was the game where we came back from 3-0 and won in OT. I am still not sure how they called Stumpel's goal a goal, but whatever. I come here to talk hockey, not talk s***. I rarely post, but I like to read whst is going on in the Red Wings organization. I am not a Wings fan, but I believe other teams can learn from the model of this team, and it's history of success.
