How 'bout Lidstrom!

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

Lidstrom looked like he was 25 again out there last night...

Playing with a lot of confidence and jumping up into plays.

17 pts and a +13 in his last 15 games. Outstanding!

He's even finding the back of the net with 4 goals in the past 7 games.

What really impresses me is that while Detroit has been outscored at even strength (GF: 84 GA: 91), his +/- is amongst the best in the NHL at +19.

Not bad for a guy who turns 40 this year!

I really don't understand how anyone could ever say anything bad about Lidstrom... ever! We've been spoiled watching the greatest Captain ever in Stevie Yzerman and equally spoiled by the greatest Defensemen to ever play the game. Shame on those calling for him to be traded or let go because his offensive numbers aren't as ridiculous as normal... Lids on his worst day is still better then 70% of the Dmen out there are their best day! Atta boy Nick, keep showing them how its done!

Lidstrom has been a second half player his whole career. He's turning it on now. Shouldnt be much of a suprise, and as a wings fan you shouldnt expect anything less. Hopefully he ca get Datsyuk and Zetterberg going and when the injured players come back we can make a run down the stretch.

I knew he was going to be able to turn it around, but I wouldn't blame the people that were harping on him he had 1 goal for a long long time, and that's just not acceptable considering how good we know he can be. Hopefully his elbow is getting better and he can stay healthy down the stretch we need his production now more then ever before.

he is #15 in the league in +/- ..... crazy to think about, considering the team's GF/GA differential is -2 on the year.

go Fantasy Hockey Norris Nick, go! :)

How does the QCMP stat work? The higher it is, the tougher the competition?

Yup.

Aparently playing in the east this year gets you a boost in that area (can't believe how high Ottawa's is).

It is the average On/Off-Ice +/- of the opposing players a player faces. For example, if you lined up against Anaheim's top line, you'd get: blah blah blah

The higher it is, the tougher, yeah. And if you want to know, On/Off-Ice +/- is

It's the difference between the team's plus/minus rate when a player is on the ice and when he's off the ice.

I've never doubted Lids ever. He knows what he is doing.

on a plus note does this mean his injured elbow is better?:)

Sure he wasnt doing it offensively at the beginning... but usually his style is more of the defensive side.

even when he wasnt getting points, his work on the defensive end was amazing. to be at a +18 rating despite the team struggling to score is amazing. we've been fortunate to have him at our back end all these years, it makes me sad to think he could be calling it quits soon
