Grateful Gadsby 10 Report post Posted February 25, 2010 Doesn't this assume that Canada can beat Sweden? Because I think the only way Canada is playing the US again is in the Bronze Game. Maybe I misread the brackets. I thought the Canadians and Team USA could face off for the gold.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 25, 2010 Russia played physical against Canada in the last Olympics, but today they don't have the same intensity.
yzefan 2 Report post Posted February 25, 2010 Most fans on this board are Americans. Thanks for the revelation. the true revelation is that most americans have such a hate for Canada that they cant be honest and admit they would want the call to be made.. again.. regardless of score.. but then again.. its no revelation... we already knew you dont like us.. were ok with it. honest! seeinred 1,488 Report post Posted February 25, 2010 WTF they're agreeing again. Did NBC brass have a talk with them or something? This isn't nearly as fun.
Serapth 3 Report post Posted February 25, 2010 That's not how it's usually called. Plus there's some crazy 3m rule or something in IIHF play. Actually, im not sure regarding the 3m rule, but its called that way all the time in the NHL. I have seen many too many men calls in NHL games because players collided or came into contact with the puck during a line change.
skyphoenix 153 Report post Posted February 25, 2010 This is just silly. A penalty is a penalty, regardless to what the score is. Hell, 4 goals isnt exactly insurmountable, and that really doesn't matter. Even if the score was 26-2, a penalty is a penalty and should be called the same regardless. This, in a nutshell, is the problem with 90% of officiating anyways. Penalty calls should not be relative... there should be no "make up" calls, score should have no influence on a penalty, nor should the players reputation. Sadly, refs are still humans, and often stupid humans, so this is never going to go away. Regardless, if it was your team, you would not have the same attitude and you know it. I'm glad you're inside my head, because I obviously don't know myself.
Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted February 25, 2010 Good thing Russia is no longer the Soviet Union. Nabokov may not have been able to return to the country.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted February 25, 2010 Russia has been extremely unimpressive in this game. I gave them the benefit of the doubt after losing to Slovakia (although that was a tight-checking game, go figure), but clearly they're not all together. Canada has had all the intensity and willingness to drive the net and certainly deserve this win, but Nabokov was terrible, which exacerbated the problem and drove the score through the roof. So long as Sweden handles Slovakia, I'd guess that the score of their game with Canada will be much more reasonable, like 3-2 or maybe even 2-1.

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 25, 2010 Actually, im not sure regarding the 3m rule, but its called that way all the time in the NHL. I have seen many too many men calls in NHL games because players collided or came into contact with the puck during a line change. They have to intentionally play it. Otherwise, teams would purposefully throw pucks at players leaving for the bench like I said. For a Canadian hockey fan, you should know better. I don't remember this being "always" called in the NHL.
Marty Barry 230 Report post Posted February 25, 2010 Shhh! Perry is being interviewed. He's gonna explain his dominance overOvy, Pavel and the rest... I guess we're gonna have to agree to disagree on that one But then again, I'm sure there have been those calls, just like the Pens got to play an entire period with 6 skaters last playoffs.
