I think for all the credit their given, they should be given a fair amount of blame. I don't know that you can honestly say one 'deserves' more blame than the other, because I feel like they are looked at as different players. If that makes any sense. Ovechkin is generally regarded as the offensive powerhouse, but Crosby the better all-around player and leader - they should be blamed accordingly. Obviously, everyone knows that a hot goalie can steal a series or two for you, which Halak has.

Crosby definitely let his team down, there's really no denying that. Ovechkin is wearing the 'C' now, too, though. As such, he should be a better leader and teammate - I feel.

I will say that the video of a frustrated Crosby reminded me why I don't like him. You can't deny that he really is a great hockey player, he would just be so much more likable if his on-ice maturity level rose.

Both Washington and Pittsburgh were beaten by the 8th seed.

I think that distinct difference is at the heart of this thread and the OP.

Ovechkin got a lot of crap from the media for losing to Montreal, despite scoring 10 points in that series. It clearly wasn't his fault that the rest of his teammates choked in that series but everyone pointed the finger at him.

The media kept talking about how Crosby has surpassed Ovechkin as a player because of the Caps loss and that Crosby is a better leader and all that s***.

Well, if I'm not mistaken, Crosby scored 5 points in this series and only 1 goal. He choked big time in this series, and didn't play nearly as well as Ovechkin did against this same team, scoring around half as many points.

I want to hear the hockey media blame Crosby for this loss the same way they did Ovechkin. I know that probably won't happen, but it should. He was completely invisible here just like against us in the Finals the last two years.

Reading through these 3 pages just makes me weep for the sad sack of freaking babies that LGW has become. Did anybody read the OP's post? Does anybody believe that this is anything other than a very thinly veiled attempt to bang on Crosby even though the point of the thread is about the media?

You want a recipe for some bitter tasting, whinage? Here it is. Pose a question about why the MEDIA isn't harping on Sid as much as they harped on AO (don't bother providin any evidence of this other than the OP's belief that they did) and then turn the thread around and essentially get pizzed off at Crosby (AGAIN) because the media isn't banging on him. So now it's Sid's fault that the media isn't giving him the same amount of blame.

Oh, and by the way, did any of you crybabies watch the friggin' series at all? Blame Crosby? Blame Malkin? What about MA Fluery? He was GOD AWFUL.

On LGW, when the Wings get eliminated everyone starts talking about how Jimmy Howard just didn't get the job done when it mattered, didn't do this or that, gave up a weak goal to Couture, etc....

But when the Pens lose, let's start another Crosby hate thread, yippee. B/c you see, strong goaltending only matters to 15 teams in the playoffs. If the Pens lose, goaltending strength, or a lack thereof gets brushed under the rug simply so we can bag on Crosby some more. You gotta love LGW.

I don't like Crosby, but I started this thread to talk about him deserving more blame than Ovechkin, who I think got over the top criticism from the media, and people talking about how Crosby had surpassed him despite Ovechkin playing well.

I knew the thread was probably going to turn into a s***storm about Crosby, but I can't help that. If people don't stay on topic, than that's par for the course around here. I have no problem with that and can't control where people go with this.

I just wanted to make a point about Crosby playing worse than Ovechkin did against Montreal, and to harp on the media's love for him. I did that.

Excuse me, Where does it mention anything about the thread being started because the 8th place team beat them????? Both players are so f***in full of themselves it's shameful and they should both do some serious soul searching about their failures in these playoffs. Ovechkin is the biggest f***in puck hog I've ever seen and Crybaby is the biggest ***** whiner the NHL has ever seen. Neither one has any class or decent leadership.

GordieSid&Ted, Crosby is far from my favorite but I'll be the first to admit that I think plenty get overzealous about him at times.

I have some things I don't like in this forum as well. I've spouted off to people like they are morons for it in the past didn't do me any good or stop those threads, so now I might just make a quick point in the thread I might not like and leave, or I avoid it all together. If you don't like it, don't need to go in it, much easier and more healthy solution. Or, make your own sports forum that limits the number of Crosby threads where you have total control over the content.

Crosby threads and other threads are going to still go on in here no matter how much you or I or anybody else might bicker about them. This is something that you will not be able to win. You need to accept that some things are just going to be how they are and deal with it if you are going to keep posting here.

And you asked about why I post here. Check my posting numbers. It gets to be fewer and fewer by the month. In my humble opinion, this place just isn't that much fun to come to anymore. I can't go more than a couple of days without there being another fecking Crosby thread. If I wanted this much Crosby, i'd just visit LGP or spend all day on NHL.com. And i'm not the only one. A noticeable amount of very excellent posters the past 5 years have disappeared or make very infrequent stops here.

And frankly, in a roundabout way I guess you could blame Crosby for that too. It's a shame b/c I really used to love this place. Now I just kind of like it. But that's jut me, i'm sure others are just happy as clams at what LGW has turned into during the Crosby era.

It would be one thing if the Crosby threads were by and large serious and of importance. Sadly they aren't.
