Did I hear Kovachuk was a healthy scratch?
Yup. Puck Daddy made the joke that if he was in the lineup tonight, the score would be 5-1 Buffalo.
You know, instead of 5-0 Buffalo.
Seriously, though, Parise seems to be the only good player on that team this year. Kovalchuk, even though he's scoring, isn't scoring enough and is rather underwhelming otherwise for his price tag. Brodeur is having another "slow start" and their backup (Hedberg) isn't helping things at all.
I sincerely think that the reason Kovalchuk got that contract is because they know Marty's going to be gone soon and they need a name to keep people in the seats...well, the few people that actually go to Devils games anyway.
