Grim 5 Report post Posted November 2, 2010 not to sidetrack this thread... would any of our current forwards make a decent defender? I would think perhaps Helm... the guy has speed to burn, he rarely avoids contact, and he might florish with the increased icetime.

titanium2 867 Report post Posted November 2, 2010 I think Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Filppula have the patience and intelligence to show good positioning and be good puck moving dmen.

titanium2 867 Report post Posted November 2, 2010 I wonder how long til eva says hudler could be a good dmen Bahaha... No it'll probably say that Hudler would be as good as any of those other three would be at playing as dmen.
pockets 9 Report post Posted November 2, 2010 As much as I like helm, if he was to switch to D he'd be a faster, less offensively skilled version of Lebda so no thanks
FireCaptain 563 Report post Posted November 2, 2010 Never let the truth get in the way of a good ol' south bashing. If you read the link, the guy from OTFC even says that the story was from AP - NOT the Tennessean's beat writer, Josh Cooper. So, therefore - try and follow this - it wasn't written by anyone from Tennessee. But hey, who am I to get in the way of the torch bearing villagers? 1 Dave reacted to this

T.Low 1,011 Report post Posted November 2, 2010 Someone please get hockey out of the south....... I love the South...but I don't expect them to know hockey down there. I expect them to know BBQ.

Shady Ultima 40 Report post Posted November 2, 2010 I actually think out of all the Southern teams, Nashville is the one I respect the most. Unlike Phoenix, Carolina, the Florida teams, and especially Atlanta, they have a consistently decent team, and have made the playoffs regularly. They also have some fans, and I think that team could grow with time.

The article is written by someone in Detroit yes, but wouldn't the Tennessean chose what headline to put?
cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted November 2, 2010 Newspapers often have staff who create, or change, headlines; they're not always created by the person who writes the story. A poorly chosen headline can get a newspaper into big trouble. So, either A) The AP should be very proud B) The Tennessean should be very proud C) A combination of the two. In the end, the onus has to be on The Tennessean. Wasn't it in Nashville, that after the end of their first home game, a lot of fans stayed in their seats, thinking it was like football and there would be a fourth period? WingZNut13 99 Report post Posted November 2, 2010 I would like to keep hockey in the south. I grew up a Red Wings fan and still follow the team like a religion. For us Southern Hockey fans, we don't claim tards such as that guy......and here I was thinking Mississippi had the worst beat writers in the county. That's just one more thing we are the crapiest at.

Yah, i don't know how people don't know how newspapers work. ~ The story WAS NOT written by someone FROM Detroit. ~ The Dateline states where the EVENT took place IN Detroit, therefore it will say DETOIT i.e. when you're watching TV and the reporter says I'm ***** Snatchandgrab, reporting FROM Detroit. This does not mean she is from Detroit does it, no, it means the event was in Detroit ~ The AP (Associated Press) writes the majority, if not all, of the article. ~ A citie's/town's/state's paper will then create a headline and, most likely, a sub-header. There's your Journalism 101 review of a newspaper format that i learned even in high school a few years back. Huck the Fawks! Go Wings! eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted November 4, 2010 Perhaps they mistook him for Kocur. If anyone remembers when that was. He did play D. By anyone, do you mean old people? That was an awful long time ago. Not long after Mark Howe (SHOULD BE IN THE HHOF!!!!!) made the move from forward to defense.
